my stories are kinda boring, but. i go by lilysash97 a few places (i think it's my DA still) and i cannot tell you where that came from. it just popped into my head when i needed a new password for the school's computers after using both my dogs' names and 'pokemonrox' (we had to get a new password every year. i guess i could've reused them but that's boring.) bornofthesea670 is something i thought up for my current fiction press account. i like the ocean and i thought it sounded poetic. the numbers were random. people have asked me if it was supposed to be about Aphrodite, which is false but i do like her so i don't mind if people want to associate the two of us.. ;) swamploner was my first fantroll's trolltag because she was this lil cerulean who was kinda antisocial/socially awkward and protected the territory around her hive fiercely. her hive wasn't even located near a swamp, it was just really wet woodlands. i later switched S and L around for her ancestor's trolltag, which is libidinousSagittarian. anyway, this one's only important because i'm swampLoner on ao3, so if they left a comment or bookmarked any of your stories, that was me. I can't remember any others. I actually haven't needed usernames for anything until a few years ago. xenosaga46 (i think it was 46, haven't been on in a while) was the username for what would have been my fan fiction account for any lemony-fics, but i never finished any of them. (although i do have about 8 pages of a gangsta!futurestuckish!fantroll!AU that i add to when i'm horny. or bored. or bored and horny.) anyway. i can normally be found under the first two usernames.
I've been under pretty much the same handle since I was 11 omfg. I just realized that when I started typing this post. Amazing. Fucking amazing. It's been 8 years. So basically my username progression went from some variant of mysticbreez -> mystical -> mystique but usually I was just known as mysti on the interwebs. Stuck with Mystical for a loooooong time and that's still my AO3 username actually, but now I mostly use Mystique cause I like the sound of it more. Been branching out as of late tho, my second go-to alias is usually Whisper p: the pretentiousness will never cease. Idk how it started tbh. I mean, I was 11. I think I just liked the sound of it and it seemed ~mysterious~ and ~cool~ or something. It still seems ~mysterious~ (mystirious?) and ~cool~ tho so it's not like I can mock my preteen self. Shame.
I tend to take my usernames from my dreams, as somehow my brain is really good with coming up with them then. This one actually came from a dream of working at a nuclear power plant, and while on duty, um, going and having a sip off the tap, so to say.
*cracks knuckles* OH BOY IT'S STORYTIME christ I can't remember when the last time I told this dumb username origin story ANYWAYS THOUGH. Spoiler: whoa this got long, under the tag you go! So a fuckload of years ago... I dunno how many exactly, it had to be at least 9 or so, probably more? It was during the Avidgamers/Acornrack period of RP sites (I remember Acornrack's first appearance/the migration over there) for anyone who remembers that time, and I frequented a number of fantasy sites there, even tried my hand at making my own, to moderate (if brief) success. And one day I saw what I thought was an interesting concept for an RP; basically a sort of weird Island of Dr. Moreau/Battle Royale kind of thing; random humans got kidnapped, injected with some magical substance that made them transform into an animal, got formed into two teams and dropped on the island to kill each other. So applications were taken in advance and then once they'd filled out both teams they'd open up the site- and here's the kicker, you didn't get to pick the kind of animal your character would become, the admins would assign each person one (dunno if they pulled critters out of a hat or actually put thought into each selection. :V) So there was a lion dude, and a fox dude, and a black widow lady, and a hawk character, and a venus flytrap gal (I dunno even how that was gonna work, I don't think it was ever made clear whether the gal got to turn into a normal-sized flytrap fit only to hopefully nosh on one of the one or two other insect-sized shapechangers or some giant mutant one), and so on and so forth- maybe two dozen characters all told. I, in an unusual move, made the character I apped with pretty much a self insert, which I think was the first and only time I've done such a thing? She had my first name, at least, and general appearance; fucked if I can remember what I wrote in for personality. Presumably an awkward nerd as I am and was? :P SO ANYWAYS, everyone's critters were announced at the same time; in the member list by each member was the name of their critter and a teeny little simple pixel headshot of the critter. And I, to my surprise, found listed next to my character- 'The Mutant'. A followup PM from one of the admins explained that my character had been selected to essentially have the injection go wrong and become some sort of... well, mutant creature. :P I was permitted to design the creature myself, as long as I kept things reasonable; I eagerly did so, using the little headshot as a kicking-off point- all I can remember of it was that it was grayish-green and asymmetrical, so I ran with it, creating a largish vaguely reptilian asexual creature that was asymmetrical to the MAX (mismatched arms, mismatched eyes that were totally different shapes, big fuckoff claws, a split tail). as I'm writing this HEY I managed to dig up this ancient as unholy fuck picture I drew of him at the time, the first of its kind. look ye upon my early 2000's art and despair! (note the totes realistic bulging vein things on its bicep meant to represent the injection site I think :V) SADLY, after the initial official opening, the site devolved into inactivity with alarming rapidity. I dunno even how they were gonna decide who won fights or reached objectives first; this was kinda a running problem I constantly encountered during my early RP years on sites that didn't involve dice/tabletop-y rules (which almost none did)! But I was pretty charmed with the critter I'd designed, so later- I can't remember on what site- I started using 'The Mutant' as my username, whenever it was available (which it isn't, always.), and for a while used it as my sort of 'profile picture' on art sites and so forth. I even RPed as him (just him, no human shapeshifting going on) once on some MUSH or another briefly- big agender (with variable 'it' or male pronouns) incredibly smart and dangerous but also doofy critter that he was. Haven't really touched him as a character or design in many years, sadly, but he'll always have a place in my withered little nerd heart. :B
