Taako "I trust nothing and no one" Taaco saying OUT LOUD "I trust Angus", holy fucking shit. There were a lot of huge revelations this ep but that was the one that made me gasp. Man. For all Justin maintains that Taako has learned nothing and is the same shallow wreck that he started out as, Taako (while still a terrible person!) has grown a lot.

JOHAN. The whole series, Johan has been massively depressed about being unknown, being forgotten, and him begging Magnus not to let them erase him... JFC. Griffin paid off so many of the little character notes he'd laid for his characters, and it's amazing.

OMG, Merle getting in that one dig about Magnus taking his arm was beautiful. Also, his line about "I didn't say I was trying to contact Pan" was interesting and I'm deeply sorry we didn't get to find out if Clint was serious or not. If so, who was Merle going to contact? Istus?

b) When Lucretia mentioned the captain of their group, I was really fucking hoping it was Angus Macdonald.
c) Carey and Killian <3
d) Poor Merle's having a crisis of faith what with Pan probably getting eaten.
e) On the other hand I imagine Griffin decided that if Clint wasn't going to use his clerical buff/heal powers, then they were going to be taken from him.
f) I kinda like the idea that 'the reclaimers' are now reclaiming their stolen century, as said in the stinger.
g) Davenport!

I liked the bit where he tried to psych himself up to betray the bureau by pretending that he only cared about the employment money and that he hadn't had a small crisis not 30 seconds earlier about actually going all the way through with it

i've just started listening to TAZ and i'm on episode 17 now
i've been telling @Azurite about some of the highlights along the way and he said something i feel like this thread would appreciate

"the fact that there's a character named Taako Taaco is the most D&D thing i've ever heard. that someone created a low-wisdom wizard named Taako Taaco, and 80 episodes later he's developed a unique, interesting character, and his player is roleplaying him unironically"

It's an off-week right now, so I don't know if people have checked, but there was a The The Adventure Zone Zone today. It's full of interesting stuff, but it's also like 1 hour 20 minutes of talking so ((shrug))
Anyway here's some of the bits I remember that I think the thread would care about maybe?

Spoiler: Full spoilers for entire arc thus far

Merle is mean to Angus because he's actually insecure about himself and his position on the team, so he sort of sees the competent Angus as a threat. This is also why he was a jerk to Killian.
Griffin totally thought that Magnus was going to take the Temporal Chalice and had scrap/rewrite three episodes of alternate timelines and bad futures when he rejected it.
We will NEVER find out why Garfield the Deals Warlock was growing a Magnus body, and Griffin has promised to take that secret to his grave.
There was supposed to be a lot more Kravitz stuff which got derailed when Taako pulled that Soul Jar shit. Kravitz will return.
Someone asked Justin if Taako has been on any more dates with Kravitz, and Justin has basically said that people can headcanon whatever they want but also he probably won't roleplay making out with his brother.
Lup was originally going to be short for Chalupa, but in retrospect that might be sorta... racist? So Lup is just Lup.
There was also some discussion about both the 'tragic dead lesbian' and 'fridging' tropes and Griffin feeling really bad about Pedals to the Metal when he found out. This is also when he promised that Lup will Do Things in the future.
The story of Tres Horny Boys will end with the Balance arc, but The Adventure Zone will live on. They expect it to take some time to find their feet.
Griffin is looking into different RPG systems, and some of the ideas for the new adventure include 'Superhero stuff' 'Cowboy Bebop meets Battlestar in stylish Space Opera' and 'What if everyone was Sherlock Holmes but one of them was a vampire' ((...they're working on it))
Justin also reiterates that there's no canon appearance for Taako and talks about it like he's basically granting custody of our favourite idiot elf wizard to the fanbase.

There was more stuff (like how the characters developed, Magnus' original extra depressing backstop, other things) but that seemed pertinent and also I'm tired of typing.

Heads up, Griffin and baby are sick (not badly, just a lingering cold) so TAZ is delayed for the week.

I'm so hyped for next week for the episode ahhhh. Also i have listened to the TTAZZ several times and it's funny In its own right! Plus p informative.

I think Griff amping up the music bits really add extra oomph to the podcast and I'm really excited! Because the boys are excited and want to make it good for us too.

I remember listening to the last Petals episode and heck I felt really hekt when there was the musical bit with the tree and Ram n Raven.



Also funny little Aside, I had to audition for a role for my Gen Ed theatre class and I embodied the spirit of Angus McDonald and got the part! My classmates n teacher loved it heheh.
