i'm finally completely caught up with TAZ and GOD i love Beacon so much. i loved Duck already, but the interactions between Duck and Beacon are just. chef kiss. i'm a little torn, though-- part of me wishes that Griffin played Beacon, because it's tricky to play two characters at the same time, especially when they have an antagonistic relationship. it can be hard to argue with yourself for extended scenes. but at the same time, I LOVE JUSTIN'S BEACON VOICE SO MUCH. (someone pointed out that it's the same voice as the pervert voice Justin uses in the Rat Baby episode of monster factory and now i can't unhear it. but tbh that makes it even better.)

i especially love that the antagonism seems to go both ways. Duck thinks Beacon is creepy and annoying, but Beacon seems to really dislike Duck as well. except they're a passive-aggressive little shit about it. i lost my shit laughing at this bit:

 

oh and: so you know how every time someone asks about Duck's name he says "It's a nickname"? i'm calling it right now, his legal first name is Donald.

 

Ahhh I loved this person's other video, I'm so glad they made another one. I love how simple and good their designs are (esp. lich Lup being just an outline...)

The live show I was at just got posted today. I'm one of the 1000+ people you hear screaming every time something happens.

 

'SUP i finally went and listened to the finale of balance while working on my arts and GODDAMN. tell me about catharsis. somewhere between the "taako, you deserve an audience" and this very very good ending i started sobbing and cried so much that i feel like only got half my eyes left.
i also want to cosplay pretty much everyone. TAZ has eaten my soul over the past year so i'm gonna jump into the next arcs and hope to hell i get some more sweet characters to cry over.

okay so the gang makes their deal with heathcliff, to get enchanted gear with which to do a little better in that whole fighty thing. the nerf gun, the loud but defensive vest, the jetpack. fun for the whole family.

i'm really kinda hoping for the next episode to feature somebody who had encouraged them to go get a weapon that can fight a water elemental, asking what they got to go for that purpose, and then get the chorus of "uh," "well," "ohhhh, right...." from the three.

like A+ choices, they had the option of MAGIC GEAR and all got a little excited, a little interested in getting things that could help in fights generally. and ned's narf gun should technically work, in that it's magic, but that's not really the kind of Investigate For The Weakness kind of discovery. what's not weak against magic? and i know they can make a funny scene of "well, it's funny you should ask that" from ned and "y'see... we just got a little bit, uh, overwhelmed by the possibilities" from duck and "i just wanted to feel a little bit safer!" from aubrey

i thought the nerf gun WAS the water-elemental fighting weapon-- it's magic so it can hit something incorporeal, and the foam darts follows on Ned's line of logic of using absorbent things to fight a monster made of water.

...dang, i forgot about the nerf dart = absorbent things. you're right, that's probably the second aspect that they're hoping makes it work out
