When I do get to reading I'll definitely post thoughts here yeah.

You can definitely see both parents' influence on Miles and it's good to see that in fiction.

It's also... significantly more of a romance novel? I mean, yes, there's at least one Miles novel that's straight-up entirely a romance novel, to a much larger extent than Shards of Honor, but it comes after we've already gotten deep into Miles as a character, so even someone who's actively turned off by Romance Novel Tropes is already into it enough to keep going.

(I've often thought that a lot of the Vorkosigan Saga's strengths come from being a shooty actiony spies-and-soldiers space adventure as written by a talented romance novelist, but I do have a hard time getting into actual full-on romances unless they creep up on me. As tends to happen with Bujold stories!)

Resurrecting this post to share a conversation I had.

Me: My dream was basically Shards of Honour, but in a Pride and Prejudice sort of setting.
SO: So basically Pride and Prejudice, then.

I was initially a bit... not put off by Shards of Honour, but if I hadn't read people raving about the Vorkosigan saga I don't think I would have continued with it. I'm glad I did, though!
