I feel the same way! It's like I have bad breathing habits. I find myself absentmindedly holding my breath all the time, and it feels better to consciously breathe deeper, but it takes a lot of effort. I don't think I normally breathe deep enough.
I can draw someone's individual features ie eyes or nose or ears from memory and their owners or parents of owners 100% can identify their offspring. I usually don't think about it or even draw anything in the period between having met them which could be anywhere from several months to years. I've always shown clear improvements despite not having practiced at all during the "draught" years. When the time comes, I just know to pick up a pencil and sketch it out instantly. This "gift" seems to have a mind of its own. TL;DR I can do life-like portraits but can't draw on demand.
I have to lock doors. Even if the house is empty except for me. When I had appendicitis my mom had to wait before she could get me in the car to go to the ER for me to crawl across the bathroom floor because I'd locked the door even though it was like 4 AM and everyone who did not have excruciating stomach pain was asleep. At my apartment now, none of my other roommates ever lock their bedroom doors, but I lock mine almost all the time.
I can't keep my right eye open when it's bright out. So I'm often walking around with one eye partially closed. Sometimes all the way depending on the light.
I frequently do the one eye closed in bright light, and yes it's the right one, that's the one I can close and keep the other open without significant effort. I can't close the left and keep the right open without continuous effort.
I'm the other way around. Most of the time when I close one eye it's the left. Might be related to the fact that my left eye is way more nearsighted?
I hate locking bathroom doors. My parents always insisted that we weren't allowed to, because what if we fell? And to this day I very strongly prefer not to lock the door when I shower or take a bath. (Since this is kintsugi, I feel the need to clarify that my parents didn't mean anything nefarious when they said that about the bathroom door, they were just concerned)
I somehow once managed to lock the bathroom door behind me as i was exiting it? it had been locked but i was somehow able to open the door while it was still locked, then i shut it and whoops, guess we're all locked out of the bathroom. luckily we managed to fix it and not have to take the door off the hinges or something. quirk: the first few times i got this one eye test done (checking the pressure, to see if you're developing glaucoma or something?) i basically almost fainted. not immediately, though! i walked back to the waiting room after the appointment was over, and whoops time to sit on the floor and get my face dabbed with a wet paper towel and call an ambulance because nobody knows why the diabetic patient is on the floor. luckily there's a couple ways of doing that test, and i haven't had to endure the one that actually involves touching the eye in a year or two.
i cannot for the life of me keep my eyes open for the glaucoma test (the air one). i just can't. i can't help but reflexively shut my eyes when air gets blown into them. once i kept flinching away from the air thing so much that the doc was like "okay we gotta do this another way i guess" and took me in the back and said "dont blink, if you do your eye might get cut" and proceeded to stick some sort of fucking special eye needle in my eye. it was basically one of the scariest things that's ever happened to me. i may have cried.
oh wow, I also get really twitchy with the air puff test, but i didnt realize there was a version with needles 0_0 the one that makes me lightheaded uses this rounded stylus to sort of boop the eye.
...in hindsight, that's probably what it was. she didn't explain it well, all she said was that it could cut my eye if i blinked or flinched, and i saw a long skinny thing coming at me.
My belongings are sacred. I have ran out if a burning building with my computer tower instead of a toddler. I do not and have never regretted it. I stopped talking to some people after I told them they cannot bend the spine of my books, especially the rare paper backs and manga, if they borrow them. They have to promise never to leave them lying around and if even a tiny bit of sunlight reaches them, they are banned from my precious babies. I visit people's houses mainly to check out how they take care of their shit. You know on the chance they want to borrow something. Tough shit, if I'm not comfortable. Also, if you put your fist through my special-made gaming flat screen tv, we're no longer dating. I will NEVER forgive you. Have a good life, yo.
I have a really strong photic sneeze reflex. When I was 10, I nearly got trampled by a moose. (If you listen to my mother, anyway. I maintain that the moose was not moving THAT fast and didn't even seem to notice I was there.)
My right tear duct squeaks. It really creeps some people out! Sometimes I squeak it for fun, and I try not to do that around people just in case. But it can happen when I rub my eyes, and this can concern people. Also, this is weird to me, but I fold my underwear and socks now. They fit in the dresser I have better this way, and it's just nice to see them all... filed like that. I never would have done this as a younger person, it sort of surprises me that I do this now.
I sigh in snipits of songs. mostly undertale, nowadays. the poingy song that Metaton boxbot is introduced with. I like birds a lot. get easily distracted by them. Spot a bird out the corner of my eye, and my attention just snaps to it for a few seconds. Ungood sometimes. I dunno, birds just grab me. they move good. My brother does something p cute. when he likes a thing or a character, he describes them as "a friend" or "friendly". doesn't mean a damn thing about their personality, just that he likes them.
I have a small hole in my soft palate that does that! If I suck air through it I can make a high-pitched whistle-squeak that gets the attention of everything from degus, to guinea pigs and (once) otters at a zoo XD
