Calcite smiles like a human and blinks like a cat. He did okay, then. And pie is very, very, very, very very very veryveryveryveryveryvery good. At least when he's human. He doesn't think he'd like it as a cat. He looks for Wes to ask about the spaceship. He's still curious.
((If that conversation wouldn't be fun to RP just assume Cal keeps asking as long as he thinks he can learn something new about spaceships and nothing else is distracting him and we can leave off if you want.))
((this obviously takes place at a different time than ivy's thread, because that one is early morning just after sunrise. this one is like, afternoon.))
((Shouold we be putting together some kind of timeline? Day X, Sunrise, Ivy: Be in Distress, Afternoon, Wes, Bump Into A Robot? I volunteer to do it but obviously only if I can get some kind of timing information from everyone.))
((*stops lurking for a second* I don't care on which day "my" thread takes place. If you want to put that and bump into a robot on the same day that's cool, actually probably really good, too, the more we stretch the threads apart the more confusing it will get when people join a thread late-ish I guess? So my vote would be on proposed example timeline and adding on to it from there.))
((i don't think they're on the same day either, i was just saying that they couldn't be at the same time either way)) ((EDIT: i suck at reading comprehension. what you guys are saying works.))
Spoiler: Illustration for RP Cody sipped some iced tea. it reminded them that they´d forgotten to drink enough and they gulped down the glass as politely as such a thing was possible to do. "So, Cal, is it? Are mew planning on staying here long or just pawsing through?"
((Ooh, we're still doing pie, I thought we were done with the pie and I'm confused but this is good I think? Also I'm squeeing over your picture, Cody is so cute/distinguished/I want to pet Cody and then maybe steal their clothes.)) "Staying," says Calcite, but he's not really sure that's what he'll be doing. "If there's room. I haven't figured out what to help with yet." Unless they need him to catch dinner, but they mostly seem to eat Jesse's vegetables and fruits and that sort of stuff. "It seems like nobody needs anything but I don't want to be a leech." He sips his own tea. It's a, hm, unique and enlightening experience that he might not repeat any time soon. "Do they have a manual or something for new people?
"Not so far, we mostly just talk to new folks like this," Jesse says absently as he holds a bent impact sensor up to the light to study it. "What're you good at?"
Calcite grins and watches Jesse work on the robot. "Hunting," he says. "Talking to cats." Talking is the wrong word for it, but he doesn't know a better one. "Going places. I bet I'm better at dealing with snakes than most of you." He was a snake for the last few months before coming to Kintsugi. "Shapeshifting. I can fly but I don't have much practice." He's only been a bird on and off, a few minutes here and a few hours there. "I can probably lift heavy stuff. Not flying, thogh. On the ground." He's not sure which other skills are worth mentioning, because he's not used to humans enough to know what's normal for them, so he decides to list everything. "I can sing, I know some human national anthems and flags and stuff, I know how to stow away on a spaceship, I know how to keep clean, I can start fires and swim and I can see and hear and feel and smell and taste and sense which way is North and figure out when there are humans around trying to hide and I can read and look cute and grow fur and venom and fit in smaller spaces than you and I can smell if people are sick and I donn't know if those last few were even worth mentioning." His human face looks almost embarrassed or nervous, but his ears are still up and turning to listen to anything interesting (which is currently Jesse and Cody). It was definitely pointless to just list senses like that and it was probably pointless to mention anything about his shapeshifting, since they know that already. But other than that he doesn't have any human skills: he can't make robots, he doesn't know what a Dewey Decimal System is (but he knows it's important!), he can't make buildings, he doesn't kow how to use a computer or do whatever humans do in "offices" (whatevr those even are).
"Can you smell if plants are sick?" Jesse asks curiously. "I could sure use a greenhouse assistant who can catch a soil fungus before it ruins the seedlings."
Wes reappears and asks Calcite "Can you smell me?" Its curious, because it depends on the creature. Which is strange, humans have scents, right?
"Or mew could help our doctor with checkups" Cody adds. "Smelling sickness would certainly help." A cat stuck it´s head into the basket, which still held some pies. "Hey you, pies are not fur kittens!" They lift the basket out of the cats reach.
"Purrobably." Cody leans down and scritches under the cats chin. "Mew should let them sniff mew first, it´s good manners."
The cat sniffes wes´ fingers, and then arched her back against their hand, purring. "Mew may pet her." Cody translated. "Maybe later you can hug her. Cats want to get to know you befur hugging and such."
