I escaped commenting on what I will generously term their... genuine enthusiasm for my story, because they then got derailed into an hour-long discussion in which they attempted to earnestly explain the concept of "alternate universes created by people's decisions" to a bunch of people in a fandom Discord for a game that has two timelines running in parallel for the entire story based on a decision the main character makes right at the beginning. And any time anyone said anything that confused them they decided more explanation was necessary because obviously those other people didn't understand the concept. (As far as I can tell they never realized that everyone else in the conversation understood it much better than they did.)
The, uh, choice of verb there reminds me of a fic that thought "saw" (as in "to saw off") was a sexy word in a similar context. O_o Do…do you think they meant "separating"?

I think I just reached the point in this fic where the author lost interest. The thing that was set up as a major problem for the first three chapters? Nah, it's cool now in chapter four, everything's fine. Status is quo! (There's supposedly a fifth chapter on the way, too…)
