Not nearly as bad, but related, a friend of mine was complaining to me recently that they'd picked up some fic by a writer who'd previously done some good fic of my previous special interest. Except apparently said writer's writing of the lead slipped between then and now, because now the ice-cold heavily-repressed secret agent is blushing like a high schooler when his handler sarcastically calls an informant meeting a date.
I would read the HELL out of some hulk ship fic, especially if it's not with natasha. Or if they do a much better job than the mcu... I cringed a lot. But I did enjoy seeing him fresh out of the shower. Also I have a yearning for pale shipping especially involving hair washing. Hair play is my Jam. This isn't a gripe and I apologize
i've seen some fic that made bruce/natasha work for me. she's a lot older than she looks, remember; the red room gave her some derivative of the serum bucky got. i think steve and the other young guys look like excitable puppies to her. but bruce is an emotional safe zone. his anger is channeled into the hulk, and he's done a LOT of cognitive work on his emotions, learning himself and how to regulate. he's not likely to pull the rug out from under her when she's got a coping method that works, or make snap decisions for Justice, or anything like that. he's someone you can get to know and stay knowing. plus he's v huggable, smart af, and built like a house. i can see it. i can definitely see it.
The prevalence of OOC fic for my ships is a huge gripe of mine in general. Some ships are especially bad in that regard (seriously, if you ship PearlRose as the disaster it was in canon, do not try looking up fic for that ship on AO3 because so much of it is hideously OOC fluff; SolAra fic has some massive problems there too, although it's mostly a matter of like 90% of it being really badly-executed wangst), but I've seen it with basically everything I ship. Which is to be expected, of course, but it's always such a disappointment, especially if the characters involved are favorites of mine. :(
so witnessed. i actually really liked canon sollux/aradia, because they're both smart and snarky and weird and fucked up. but all the fanfic i can find is just like... generic Obligatory Heterosexual Ship with a solara paintover.
THANK YOU, it's such a good ship in canon (hell, it's my Homestuck OTP still) but so much of the fic is just...so bad...;-;
This person typo'd Rathaway as Hathaway and. Ah yes, infamous sound-based supervillain Anne Hathaway.
is it canon from someplace that 'sputnik' is a shutdown code for the winter soldier? or is it just fanon? it's such a terrible trigger word. your multibillion-dollar, multi-decade investment's going to be walking past a tv store when it's playing a documentary about the space race and just fall down twitching on the sidewalk.
No wonder Hydra keeps getting punched in the face by men in tights. Use something like "bloated scorpion quinceañera," guys, come on.
But it's a sequence of words that has probably never occurred in the English language before, and will probably never independently arise again! :::DDD
y.....ou're right.... and for the sake of my mental wellbeing and bucky's overall health.... i hope it never arises again! D:
You might tow a line, but generally only with something attached to it, like a toy caterpillar on wheels. Toeing the line is a different beast altogether.
I know its mean of me to be so goddamn picky about commas but please, stop spicing your commas, god invented em-dashes and semi-colons for a reason.
...i saw that and my immediate thought is "Ah. Fanfic about a Toxic Norn." so...was it creatures series fanfic, or was this just referring to bad med interactions?
Not that series, I'm afraid. Just someone not quite thinking about their choice of "disgusting" synonym and the context it was being used in (describing something meant to stop sickness)
