Every "society has d/s shit instead of gender roles" fic I've seen has been idfic first, justification and worldbuilding second. A lot of the time it comes with a sideorder of "I don't want to have homophobia in my happy place" too, which isn't always my thing, but I can't blame someone for going 'gay relationships are treated as normal and non-relevant as a form of oppression.'
Yeah that's probably the closest, though it does suggest physically going to where the subject had been.
@KingStarscream @palindromordnilap I think you're talking past each other. Pal, when you say "gay" in this context do you mean same-role relationships, not same-gender? Because I do see your point there. Thing that reminded me of the untagged size kink complaint earlier in some origfic I was reading; Spoiler: nsfw one character could "barely get her hand around" hers (futanari) and another had one "twice as thick" as the first character's. That's the size of an average woman's neck, and there was no size kink warning. Now all I can think of is the DISNEYLAND ATTRACTIONS incident.
Oh, I do, but what happened there was that my post hadn't gotten through post moderation when they posted theirs.
It may be that if this doesn't make sense to us, that just means that we are, in the parlance of this universe, "straight." Which is a concept that may take some getting used to around here.
There is a special place in hell for writers who mark their abandoned works as complete with no indication that they’re unfinished
Spoiler: Cont. NSFW In my experience, that's Just How Futanari Be. Which is kind of unfortunate, but I can understand the author believing the 'oversized' (that's not even unusually large...) thing was already covered by Futanari.
Author: If you put either a period or a comma in your sentence before you start a segment enclosed in quotation marks, you have maybe a 50% chance of getting it right. If you put no floor punctuation at all between your quoted and unquoted segments, you have a 100% chance of being wrong. I’ve seen this over and over the last few months, from different authors and across several fandoms. I think they’re learning from each other.
There has been a flood of dubcon spanking fics in this fandom recently and it's very disappointing. Is enthusiastic consent spanking fics too much to ask for? (Yes, apparently - the one I found decided that in order for someone to be a sub, they have to have a complete personality transplant, so. Not better.) Actually, that reminds me - there is a frankly disturbing trend in at least this fandom of subs' personalities being rewritten to be more "innocent" and childlike. I mean I get it if that's somebody's kink but like. Everyone? It wigs me out.
The Flash - although admittedly I'm only really reading the slash pairings, so maybe the rest of the fandom is better about it.
TFW you are reading a ship fic that's supposed to be of a particular ship but the characters within the fic are essentially OCs.
@palindromordnilap BTW, can you link me to some D/s AUs? I can't find any and I want them, the "AU - BDSM" tag is full of fics that are just about characters practising BDSM.
I unfortunately can't, because the specific thing I was talking about I didn't directly read (I avoid triggery media which is practically everything nowadays, and it's a ridiculously high-context RP thing apparently), I just know of it through other people including the author discussing it.
I'm creeped out by late-game Homestuck's thing about making the cross-Scratch selves indistinguishable from each other (Condesce and Meenah and the Dads) so I want to make the ancestors and parents different in some stuff I'm doing, but at the same time stress out about it because that would be writing them OOC. I still like the old Brainbent portrayals of Bro and Mom...
