Speaking of missing out details, I'm remembering an old Weepingcock entry involving a Sailor Moon fic written by who I can only assume was a twelve-year-old. A commenter said the writer in question "has some weird, vague idea of how sex starts, but seems to think it ends when the participants get bored and stop". No orgasm was described at any point.
I found an actual "professional" story which did this. Well, to be fair, it was in a book which was a collection of pro writer's stories which had been rejected elsewhere, but they still could have done with proofreading it, because it would be very difficult to carry a twelve-foot strapon in a handbag. Then we get into APH Prussia and the FIVE METERS meme.
gods help me now i want ms. frizzle and mary poppins porn fic that involves poppins' bag and a twelve foot long dildo
I don't know if this is a gripe as much as a "this makes me sad", but when authors suddenly delete all their work with zero warning and no chance of saving it :( I was on AO3 and got reminded of an author who did that on lj, where there is no orphaning. And I got real sad because they were one of my faves and goddamn it, I wish I had just downloaded their stuff before it disappeared :(((
That happened to one of my absolute favorite les mis fics :( One day I will get up the courage to message the author and beg for a copy. One day.
that's always super sad. there's even some authors on ao3 who don't orphan their works, they just delete them ;-; i lost one of my favorite homestuck smutfics because i hadn't thought to save it and one day when i looked for it it wasn't in my bookmarks and one of my bookmarks had been replaced with "This work has been deleted" or something similar/ now i save shit i really like
I guess maybe they're using the definition "Person With Person" rather than "Porn Without Plot"? Or maybe they mean it started as PWP and somehow got a plot while they were writing it?
I'm guessing they mean either the latter, or something like the "Porn With Feelings" tag where there's actual characterization and whatnot. Or just "Porn With Plot", because they're thinking of "porn" and "PWP" as the same thing, and didn't stop to think how ridiculous it came out?
Fun anecdote: When I was a smol, I first heard "Plot? What Plot?" as the explanation of that acronym. Accordingly, I used it to label some character introspection vignettes because plot things didn't happen in those.
Smut scenes where it's very obvious that the author cobbled them together from a variety of sources rather than trying to write it on their own. It's fine if you're not confident in writing smut, but pls, at least consider the mechanics of the scene rather than regurgitating the same exact motions six times in six different authorial voices.
