Spoiler: Chapter 20 For a moment there I thought they were going to talk about basketball instead of football, which would have absolutely ruined the entire story for me.
Spoiler: yeah it all feels like like they're strangely broken and man i really really want to fucking know what happened with all the people who would've been kids/babies/fetuses at the time aging and death stopped like did they get stuck in that young state or what
Spoiler I mean, aging and growing are two different mechanisms. They'd just grow until their 20s and stay that way.
Spoiler: todays update The fact that eddie talked about how he literally got younger once aging stopped makes me...concerned. how much younger? is this why there arent any more children around? did they also get hit by whatever this is, and immediately regress so far in aging that they ceased to exist? THIS WAS A GOOD, UPSETTING UPDATE BUT REALLY WHAT IM WONDERING ABOUT IS THE KIDS.
so i decided to venture back and read the tim tebow cfl chronicles and boy howdy. Spoiler: there's thematic connections here nonsensical extreme football obviously but also the idea of like humans realizing they can't in their lifetimes get anywhere else speed of light as an ultimate limitation of travel and so they just fuck around on earth playing sportsball instead eta okay i just finished the tim tebow one and Spoiler it's not the same timeline or universe or anything 2026 is unusually significant in both, and a technological advancement is relevant in both but in ttcflc they lose football they lose the love of it and it's a tragic ending but they're seemingly still mortal and the species is continuing so that's something
Spoiler: Like, Nyah The kid question is still in mind but Uhhhhhhhhh Literally cried a bit when Tim was apologizing tbh I dunno It's like, a relatable feel Eta the don't go in the cave tangent was good tho and also the other stuff
Spoiler I remember thinking how strange it was that the light was still on. I thought that, well, if he was gone, then the light he switched on should've turned off. That as soon as he went, everything should go with him.
Spoiler: Chapter 23 onwards Well, that was kind of an abrupt ending, but while I would have definitely read a much longer work about weird future football games, I guess there's only so much more you can say about the topic and have it still be meaningful.
Sequel has started: https://www.sbnation.com/secret-base/21410129/20020/chapters-index Spoiler: Chapter 1 They've got a pretty good clusterfuck going on already. I don't think it measures up to Game 27 in terms of sheer nonsense (there are few things that can), but in terms of scale it's doing well.
seeing my university’s stadium featured for like 2 frames or w/e gave me the first shred of school spirit i’ve ever really felt for my uni’s football team. also it made me wonder how much of the campus my team’s field would cut through, but i thibk the only building it cuts through that i’m actually familiar with is the art building. in conclusion i am stoked about 20020 and also i miss my campus a bit.
