This is... very accurate. I have not been Into Pokemon for some time but it is nevertheless, as you say, a delight.

I have been playing the demo of Terra Nil and enjoying immensely

It's a very chill, anti-building resource management game - instead of urbanisation, you're rewilding an area, scrubbing the soil of toxins and encouraging biodiversity. Really nice sound design, as well, which adds to the appeal.

I got Final Fantasy 7 working with some graphics mods to make it look less 1997, and discovered that an incredibly dedicated person upscaled every single background texture in the game with a neural network. Aeristh's house looks gorgeous, but I'm deriving some mild amusement from some of the other places where computer-generated chaos is showing through. The booze at Tifa's bar appears to be melting into some sort of eldritch dimensional portal and the neural network isn't always entirely sure what ladders are.

I've been delivering mail in a post-apocalyptic America populated by literal cargo cultists and ghosts.

after spending about a half hour on the botw reddit I've realized that I don't actually know how to play this game at all, and in fact I don't think I have ever played any video games ever in my life

Pedantic, but jumping spiders don't make webs. I'm willing to overlook this, however, because not only is that game adorable looking, it also looks to have really fun game mechanics and plot

I love how in the Zelda mythos not only are the three holders of the triforce reborn every time Malice comes around, but so is apparently half the damn population of Hyrule, including a horse. I understand why they do it, everyone loves recurring characters and it makes the games feel like parts of a whole rather than separate stories featuring the same protagonist, but the implications are either hilarious or fascinating depending on how "crack taken seriously" you want to go with it.

The new point-and-click game Slice of Sea by Mateusz Skutnik (Submachine, Daymare Town) is pretty good. The movement is a bit janky, but the puzzles are very much in the Mateusz Skutnik style.

I started Sekiro. It's definitely more fun than I ever had with any Dark Souls game, but so far I have been screwed out of a victory by the camera (and occasionally the terrain) way too many times for me to consider it fair.

Cozy Grove is a very chill game about helping the ghosts of a haunted island recover their memories and move on. It can be sad, but also very funny and charming, and you get to decorate, fish, craft, and dress your character. It can run a bit slow on Switch, but it's still playable so long as you don't cram your island full of decor.
