I doubleflipped the whole gendered classes thing off when I made Angel three or four years ago. Prince of Blood, decidedly female, heh.

Syaoran strikes me as a bit of a Knight, though. CCS didn't do much overt self-loathing, but he is eager to prove himself. Time Aspect I'd say? Something something timing. And the Time card from the anime.

Tomoyo the Sylph I can see, even if Touya is the one who does an actual healing thing. (Tomoyo's clothing reminds me of the Witch dress, maybe that's why...)
Yue, Prince of Light? Prince of Void? He's a destructive influence, at least at first. Deep denial about-- huh. Yue the Knight, wouldn't that be a hoot. Complete with the silly hoodie.

Kero-chan is a protector, but very chipper. I'd almost put him as Maid Class.

(Clow Reed is a Mage of Time)

Discuss: Sakura's rise to power is at the tail end of Clow's remaining power. If she does not succeed, shit hits the fan in bad ways, culminating not only in the destruction of the Clow Cards because nothing is fueling them anymore, and whatever they manage to pull with them. Consequently, Sakura's Arc is inherently linked to the Doom aspect, which she needs to accept and work with, creating something of her own from the doomed remains of Clow's work.

actually, as of Tsubasa and xxxHolic, I think Clow Reed is a Lord of Space, and Yuuko is a Muse of Time

Can't contribute to the CLAMP discussion, but I don't think Maid was ever confirmed to be female only. The only ones that are confirmed are Bard, Prince and Lord as male, and Muse as female.

I think Maid is paired with Seer, Heir is paired with Mage, Witch and Sylph are female only, and each pair has the same gender leanings (and the master classes aren't exactly a pair like the others). But I wish there was more official word on it.

We were supposed to get more knowledge in the Hiveswap game, but I've straight up lifted stuff from the SBURB Glitch FAQ because #yolo

And I still personally and vehemently disagree with gender exclusive classes, since quite a bit of that is rooted in western gender roles anno circa industrial revolution and I refuse to accept a cosmic system based on that.

    edit: phrasing

    ETA:
Have read neither, but have heard it's a massive mindfuck, so I'll take your word for it.
(I read Homestuck -- mindfucks, time shenanigans, and alternate universes are a thing I usually eat for breakfast, but...)

I agree, it wasn't a great creative choice. I think Andrew Hussie said somewhere that women could be Princes, so maybe Calliope was mistaken? She can't have information on every single player.

I tend to think of Sakura as a protector, but you're right, Syaoran or Kero fit better for that.

Imagine Sakura as an Heir of Doom.

Tomoyo I tend to see as a witch, possibly because of her Tsubasa incarnation (I really need to rewatch CCS), and Touya would make a good Sylph I think. Aspects... I can't get space for Touya out of my head, but I also have no explanation for it. /shrugs

Yue and Yukito: same title or different? I can't really see Yukito as a prince.

Re: Clow as Lord of Space and Yuuko as Muse of Time: yes I agree.

Yeah, Tsubasa starts out like "oh, this will be all cute and happy and sweet!" And even after it takes a turn for the darker it looks like it will be fun found family shenanigans, but no, it gets progressively darker and more mindfuck-y as time goes on. And xxxholic starts as light horror... No wonder I liked Homestuck so much.

    :3 Yuuko
inspires the events of at least two series.
also, her main involvement in plot stuff is to direct it from the sidelines, a lot like Callie does. and, like Callie, when she does do stuff, it big. also, time distorts around her, as seen w
her old customers not remembering her once the warp caused by her existence is resolved. she's also got the whole association w death down pat, what w the fact that
she's been dead the entire time

and Clow Reed makes deals (as does Yuuko, but that's bc
she's paying off the balance from one of Clow's biggest deals-
the one that allows Syaoran and Sakura to escape from the loops of time and fate
) much like Lord English does, though in a more benevolent way. also, his appearances in the later series' all happen in places where he needs to hold the world/dimension itself stable until plot stuff happens, or other characters are able to fill in the gaps. and in all of his appearances, he's heavily associated w creation, or at least the things he's created (the cards, the mokonas, Sakura's first staff, Kero and Yue, etc)

for the rest of the xxxHolic and Tsubasa original characters, hmmm

Watanuki is something of Doom. possibly Seer? idk, something relatively passive. either way, he's Doom bc law in that
he exists bc of Li Tsubasa breaking the law against turning back time, and bc fate (which is the other interpretation of Doom) itself needed someone to fill Li Tsubasa's place in that world while he was imprisoned by ass-chin
. so he embodies both interpretations of doom, but he doesn't actively create or enable them, which is why I think he's one of the more passive classes. also, he has the pessimism thing going for him like the main doom player we've seen.

Himawari is a Bard of Light bc while she destroys fortune and luck, she doesn't do it actively, it just sort of unravels around her. she also has a message that she spends most of the series trying to drill into Watanuki's head- "you need to care about yourself more, bc the way you put everything into caring for the rest of us is going to kill you one day"

Doumeki is a mystery to me. he's probably a Knight of something, bc he's v much a protector

Kohane is a Seer of Life. for a definition of "life" that includes spirits and ghosts, at least.

the Mokonas are something of Blood, bc connections and interpersonal biz

Fai is... huh. he's broken af, and has a heavy association w destruction, so that makes me lean towards Prince. but I'd also buy him as a Thief of something. something Void or Mind might work for him as a Thief. void bc potential, since wizards have this thing of making something out of nothing, and also bc
he believes he stole his twin's potential existence
. mind is for spoilers but... hmm. no, I think I'm going to go w Thief of Void here

Kurogane is also a protector, but in a v different way to Doumeki. and he started out as a destroyer, but I don't think he's a Prince, bc that's more likely to be
    clone!Syaoran
    so idk

edit: it might be time for a reread

    ^^Yes to all of this.

My first thought for Watanuki was "page", but yes, definitely doom. Seer would work pretty well, actually.

Aaaand now i have to resist the urge to write a million different flavors of CLAMP/Homestuck crossovers. Gdi brain.

My headcanon is that due to the excessively binary nature of cherubs, Calliope is a bit of an unreliable narrator when it comes to stuff like gendered classes

Hmm, but Nightwing's sort of meant to be the ball of sunshine in the batfamily, right? Not sure how well that works with Doom.
