who else is 900% done with tumblr?

I'm probably not leaving it yet, because I get a lot out of it, have a large follower base I don't want to lose, and enjoy the content I get from the people I follow there, including a lot of friends.

But I might also create accounts elsewhere and try and translate some of my activity and maybe even social spheres over there so if I am forced to move away from Tumblr entirely it won't be such a jarring break.

 

Honestly. It was the pornbots that drove me away. you can't even go to block them without seeing shit you did not consent to seeing.

 

Yeah, I don't know yet if the site design is at all conducive to fandom. Right now, I'm looking to archive all the cool art and writing advice and art tutorials and fandom stuff that I've reblogged to it over the years.

It's not quite automatic, in that there's a few steps you have to go through. But here's my current progress screen, which has been going for a couple hours:

Go to yourwordpressblogsname.wordpress.com/wp-admin,
look for Tools in the sidebar,
select Import from its options.
Select Tumblr,
confirm that you're giving Wordpress permission to do stuff with the Tumblr account,
and let it... take however long a time this is going to take.

Importing from tumblr to wordpress. Not sure how much activity I will do from which sites, but better to have it archived and this seems to be the easiest option.

 

Oh - my site is https://lysikan.wordpress.com unless I decide to upgrade and map it to my own domain later.

 

I'd move but there's still the TSW fandom on Tumblr that's great and there's not really a place to move to yet. I'm hoping the next place fosters a healthier fandom culture than Tumblr. Maybe if there's more tools to filter out content you don't like, people will make "i dont like this" into moral outrage less.

Now would be a great time for someone to start up a new social network though if they had the means and knowledge

 

I'm afraid I don't know, I've only just signed up for it today, and it's still in the process of backing up my inspiration blog. I can take a look poking around once that's done... but maybe someone else who knows WordPress has the answer?

 

I know the trolls and wank baiters of Dreamwidth RP would be delighted if fandom were to move to DW like we moved away from LJ. Fresh things to gossip about...

 

if i did much actual writing i'd jump to another blog platform. but as it is, idk. all i can really do is keep a deviant art and furaffinity account and, idk. look at stuff? i just really liked -sharing- stuff.

tbh i get most of my communication needs here but i might just hop over to twitter since i dont really talk much.

This is accurate, and they trend edgelord, too. If I wanted to hear a bunch of 3edgy people jerk each other off over how much better they are than other people, I'd get on Reddit for a bit. Ah, it's enough to make me almost miss Fandom Wank... almost.

 

I enjoyed the Cute Fun Funny trend we had going for a few months, where people were using the blushy subjectline emote and being genuinely positive at each other. But it didn't last, and instead we have the escalating edgelord bullshit... that got to the point that hammeranon had to start actually policing wankgate. The end of an era...

 

god I used to rp on LJ/DW for a while and...eventually just got fed up with the wank. it was sort of trashy-magazine entertaining for a while and then it just got too stupid.
