Audience_cat from Tumblr here, I've heard good things about Soup (http://www.soup.io/), anyone willing to guinea pig? I've got automute so I can put up with the ads, but not with all the people I follow leaving.
hm, it looks like there's a bit of a fandom presence there already, i'm intrigued. i just might do it.
Checking around the terms and conditions, and here's a few interesting things: Looks like reposting others' creations without permission is not allowed. Those repost blogs that don't credit would be against these rules, but ones link one image and link back to the original post would be fine. "You can import your own content only" is interesting, not sure what that implies. No javascript redirects sounds nice.
i started my tumblr import for soup but i reblog a lot of stuff, not much is original on my main... i wonder if it will work?
I don't know if I'm 100% done with Tumblr, but the way things have been going doesn't look good, and I'm getting tired the drama that always seems to find its way onto my dashboard. That's pretty much why I made an account here.
it finished importing, looks like it just adds a little tag to the top of your soup page that leads back to your tumblr, and doesnt actually transfer over the content
does the prohibition on 'child abuse' extend to discussing one's own experiences, and/or fiction? it seems very general. also concerned about the 'trivializing nazis' thing -- would fandom posts related to hydra or the first order be prohibited?
Not sure, that's the whole section that I saw on the topic. It's probably a thing that they'd ask to be contacted about. The other major concern I've got is, the most recent Soup Update is about their experimentation with advertisements that the userbase is willing to tolerate. And there's a lot of comments about the "porny ads" that the update mentions; mostly complaints about them showing up to people who don't want to see them. I say "recent" and I mean "December 15th 2015." I haven't seen these ads myself, so maybe they've been disabled in the meantime... Gonna keep poking around to see what's what.
Well at least this new turn has incentivized me to actually continue organizing my blog, because if I have to save it I want there to be less then ~14k posts
hm. Well, i've made a wordpress in the meantime, I wont really lose much if tumblr dives, so i'm not too worried about losing content. My blog was 99.999 percent reblogs anyways. Second link in case the first doesn't work: https://quotableraven.wordpress.com/
yeah nevermind, looks like something you have to pay for edit; from what im reading it looks like it used to be free double edit: i seem to have quoted the wrong person, my mistake
ngl, i like the fact that they've got "disruptive" - forbes as one of their reviews eta but uh, man, $19/month for a single blog? boy. they sure do want to be professional and expensive.
