Mostly settings and applications FAQ, some plot stuff - there's not going to be much mechanics because most of DWRP doesn't WoD, so I'm just trimming down basically everything. Alright, reading it over I am very interested in the setting. I like these kind of world builds, and while it's a closed-box setting, it's also a close-box setting the size of San Francisco and with a giant unknown entity of Deifictech right in the center, leaving a lot of questions open as well as lot of exploratory areas. I feel like you've done a good job meshing in all of the nWoD canon I can think of, save for missing the part on Mages (I will admit, I was disappointed about that, but I'm also really fond of Mages in either version of WoD, so I look forward to seeing this added). I'm curious how the memory loss and time cycle occurs, but that hasn't been up since I had a chance to read this. Also, there was a typo that I corrected. I hope that's okay? I do have questions about this, but at the same time I'm afraid to take on a character because I'm super-goddamn-flaky when it comes to online play by post games like this, even if now I'm wondering if there's a way of making one of my favorite characters work in the series and if he'd be a Hunter, a Mage or just a bog-standard human depending on how his powers would be interpreted. Mages are only missing because they're one of the WoDs I can't write a summary for off the top of my head (along with werewolves, which a friend wrote that one for me). They're definitely going to be in there. Timecycles will go up in a while - the GoD as it is kind of hates my computer, so I'm going to try and offload some of the (eg) setting stuff onto a mod journal for the game before I write that. Closed-box is pretty much the standard for dreamwidth panfandom (It's specifically referred to as a "jamjar" setting) because so many characters would just Fuck Off with an open box. Likewise the non-AU option (which surprisingly very few people have shown an interest in? Everybody's gotta AU I guess) is what usually gathers more interest. (And yes catching my typos is totally ok.)
So our WoD game wrapped last night. We, uh. Sort of saved the town? The town still exists, anyway, which was in doubt for a while. Those of us who had taken on supernatural roles related to the founding contract of the town were asked to swear the oaths of office to a fae to continue in them permanently, and all of us turned them down. Miles, Mac, and Hayley are staying. Walter is going full Hunter and dedicating himself to wiping out the cult of the Bronze God who ruined his life. Shinsou and Kate are leaving and starting over somewhere else. It was a good ending for the style of the game, I think - our characters went through some bad shit and everything is still not okay (and will maybe never be okay), but we all got to make a choice about how we were going to move on with our lives. I am satisfied.
So someone I know is running a Hunter game so I'm reading Hunter: the Vigil and looking at Ashwood Abbey Spoiler: nsfw think of all the weird dead dove kink stuff you could do with characters in that organization.
in my geist game, there was discussion of having a set of hunters serve as disturbing evil counterpart type reflections of our characters mine's would have been from ashewood abbey and I'm still a lil bit disappointed that plotline probably won't happen
Man, oWoD Vampire was my jam. I like pretty much every game line in both oWoD and nWoD, but the sheer depth of the fluff and all the succulent options/clanbooks really got me going. Baali, Giovanni, and Tzimisce were my favorites, by the way. Says a lot about me, given that they're Cthulhu-Satanists, Inbred Mafia Partisans, and Body Horror Russian Nobility, respectively.
Resurrecting this thread because someone please tell me they can direct me to the nWoD 2.0 because my bank account is sobbing grossly. Also Beast. Beast looks interesting. I'm buying stuff when I can because Onyx Path seems to be doing some interesting shit but I'm too broke for this T_T
So I got talking nWoD with someone and got myself invited to a Geist game. That's so far just the two of us. And no GM. Wait, right term for WoD is Storyteller, right? Anyway it was just the two of us talking characters and realizing we needed a lot more for a Real Game, he doesn't have the head for Storytelling and this'll be my first time actually playing. But I offered to ping you guys to see if anyone else wanted to play or, better yet, GM once we figure out a basic campaign idea.
