might wanna check the recipe before going all out on the meat mining, iirc regrowth disables a bunch of recipes to enforce progression.
used twilight forest aurora slabs to tile my ceiling, and it looks SO PURTY. the slabs and pillars don't do the animated color changing, they just ombre over distance. so there's a green corner and a blue corner but it doesn't move distractingly. i'm so pleased with it. in other this-game news, i'm gazing speculatively at nuclearcraft and sighing wistfully, but like, my power storage is maxed out with just a couple magmatic dynamos right now, i have absolutely no use for a city's worth of electricity. alas. what do people even DO with nuclearcraft? any of y'all ever played with it? i've got enough thorium and uranium and such to build a super radioactive cancer house but i don't think that's what it's for. :P
maybe make some kind of food factory for the nearest village? Making all the machines to do that automatically would consume quite a bit of power.
I threw on some shaders -- it makes my comp very, very loud, but is also very, very worth it. Tree, grass, and water ripple/waving isn't working for some reason tho. Wrong shade file/wrong settings/not enough ram? hell if i know. (ETA: Just so I don't spam this thread too much, there's more screenshots over in my blog thread: with shaders, without shaders)
I believe in at least some versions of vanilla they’d pick up bread/carrots/potatoes and having enough in their internal inventories was a prereq for mating But that’s not... really the same as what I think y’all are talking about. And idk if that’s even a thing anymore. (Edit hit post before actually finished oops)
shaders are so pretty. they kill my laptop, so i don't use them, but i sigh whenever i look at screenshots.
Looks like the food to breed thing is still a thing and does consume the food. From https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Villager Under Breeding/Willingness
Of course there also needs to be enough doors to open population slots for them to do so, so that’s still not gonna be a great way to burn excess power. There’s gotta be a “make villagers actually eat” mod out there somewhere. Hrrm.
well, this modpack (enigmatica 2) does have minecolonies, so i could set up little buildy guys and make machines produce the wood and stone and stuff they need to build their buildings. but i'd still have to hand shuttle the supplies to them, and they only use fugly vanilla materials, alas. i've been trying to think of what would be a cool use of big power and my brain keeps going to like... bullet trains, and air ships, and megastructures all lit up with searchlights. like a batman cartoon!
Having a certain amount of bread, carrots, potatoes, or beets in their inventory is, as of 1.13.2, still a prerequisite for them to mate in vanilla. ikr?? can't really run a server in the background while doing that though, sadly, and those caps are from my server uu_uu" I shall live with potato graphics. (it will only get worse once I continue making automated farms...
I was thinking more along a roleplaying like you're feeding villagers line, not literal. Depending on what you make you could use that to power a botania setup through gourmaryllis.
man, it would be really cool if there was a villager mod where you could feed a bunch of hungry people, and fill requests and such. that would be fun as hell. apparently 'dooglamoo cities' has a kind of industry sim thing going, but there are no people, it's just empty factories, which seems nightmarish to me. plus i can't get it to run. it insists that i'm running 12.0 instead of 12.2 and won't start.
This would be rad as heckie *sighs and adds this to the list of projects I never have time to actually make*
Still working on the design for the lighthouse / beacon tower It looks less like a dick now. Top-down view for a good look at the balconies And I'm not sure which floor pattern to take. Hrm. A look down the 4x4, 80 block high tower of ores I then proceeded to decimate with a fortune 3 pickaxe. It took 4 ingame days and looked like a cigarette from the side.
i just thought of a minecraft mod i want: a roomba! it would be a craftable machine at the midgame level of complexity, about like a thermal expansion pulverizer or something, like it'd take some redstone and metals but not a highly specialized chain of parts to build parts like the ae2 storage stuff. you'd put its charger block down, give it power, and a little roomba would come out and start flattening the terrain. the charger would have an inventory for storing the stuff it digs and chops, and it would go to that inventory to get material to fill holes, but you might need to attach an overflow inventory or come empty it out periodically. it could have upgrades for things like work speed, working underwater, immunity to lava, saving fluids, that kind of thing. maybe it should automatically chunkload where it's working, too, like the old ender quarry used to do. anyhow, it wouldn't be very fast, and maybe if you wanted to keep it from being used to quarry you could limit it to working above a certain level, maybe configurable in the config file. but it'd just go off by itself and work. just this little robot the size of a chicken, moving about as fast as a chicken maybe, having to come back to its charger to drop off stacks of dirt or pick up some gravel, and little by little it'd cut down mountains and fill in oceans. it should also be very cute, and pets should be drawn to ride on it. this wistful post brought to you by the letter I can't code java and the number 16 chunks i need to flatten so i can build a minecolonies city.
has anyone ever used dooglamoo cities mod? it's included in the 'towncraft' modpack and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to make it go.
