Law of averages - if one side is perfect the other side has to be not-good. Can't have people running around with perfect vision in both eyes - would mess up the statistics
astigmatism? since it's a structural problem in the lens/cornea, not "traditional" myopia/hyperopia, it often occurs only in one eye. and the other eye doesn't have the structural problems, so its vision is a-okay.
