Played in a LARP today that involved a mountain, represented by three rings of rope on the ground to show different elevations. You climbed from one level to the next with "Climbing 1-5" and could shove people back down to the next level with a shove spell, or just by engaging them and backing them off the cliff. Getting shoved back down injured the person, sometimes fatally.

My healer spell list is nothing but shoves.

My favorite mini story right now is that a guy named Hugh went to France and faced the very specific challenge of his name being unpronounceable in French because all the letters are silent.

 

... this is funnier to me, knowing that the French monarchy was founded by a man named Hugh. it's. how

 

You just gesture vaguely at the guy in charge and maybe make a faint ë noise.

 

My guess is either linguistic drift, and At the time he lived his name would have made a sound, or that’s an anglicized version of his name.

I’m trying to make a little cast aluminum statue of a guy I know to give him when he gets knighted in a few months in our larp. First step to doing that is making a clay positive. I made my first attempt yesterday, and was maybe just a touch too ambitious for someone who hasn’t worked with clay since I outgrew playdough.

@vuatson Wonder if the person who made that had heard of the Welkin Weasels series - at one point the weasels do in fact battle a "manless horsehead" because the entire series runs on stupid puns and it's adorable.
