Just gonna crosspost this here for reasons.
@KarrinBlue mentioned Lemi getting mothman flying wings and I thought she was going to say a mothman inspired gown and I tried

Wiwaxia (GM): alright, here we go
    Karrin Blue: There we go
Wiwaxia (GM): so is the bumping automatic?
    whimsy: i switched over manually
    Arxon: so did i
    Karrin Blue: Manually
Wiwaxia (GM): kay, good to know
    Bird: hullo
Wiwaxia (GM): everyone ready to start?
    Arxon: yes!
    Bird: yeah!
    Wiwaxia (GM): oh actually, though
    couple questions first
do you guys think i should bump up grist yields a bit?
Bird: hrm. leon hasn't been doing much alchemising or grist collecting so i can't really tell
Karrin Blue: Id like more grist buuut
Arxon: Yeah Lemi also hasn't been alchemising so I couldn't say
Wiwaxia (GM): looking at the fight with john and nannasprite versus the ogres it looks like they drop more than i've been having them do
Bird: you could always bump it up for a few sessions and if it gets too unbalanced change it back
Arxon: Truuue, but this is your system and it's up to you how you want to balance things
I don't think you need to feel beholden to things in the comic, if you think the grist amount is apropos then it's your choice
    Karrin Blue: Yeah
Wiwaxia (GM): well, i was gonna say that i'm using the grist costs from the comic, but somehow i don't think andrew really bothered balancing those
    :v
    whimsy: ::D
    Karrin Blue: Hah no
    Arxon: yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah
Wiwaxia (GM): anyways, I think i'm gonna try bumping it up for a few sessions
at least for ogres and basilisks
although i still wouldn't advise picking a fight with a basilisk
    :P
    Bird: :/
    Wiwaxia (GM): mm?
    Bird: :///
    basilisks are rude
Wiwaxia (GM): (quiet giggling to self)
    Karrin Blue: Telelorting assholes
whimsy: the probably have some sort of really ridiculous weakness that we only need to find
    Wiwaxia (GM): #notallbasilisks
whimsy: like, idk, they can be fed jellybeans and they fall asleep from them
or dont like vacuum cleaner noises
    (vacuum cleaners are evil)
Wiwaxia (GM): also, other thing, i think i'm gonna try calling for stat checks less and giving you the stakes more before you roll them
in the interests of being able to fairly pile on nastier consequences for failure
    Karrin Blue: >:]
    Bird: i like this plan
    Karrin Blue: Yes
    Arxon: :V
Wiwaxia (GM): good, glad to hear!
    alright, timeline update?
oh, and i should check if your grist doc is current
    one sec
    Karrin Blue: Update pls
    Wiwaxia (GM): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1f9wxkdpQLfknYaDBoqn6EwplSwoRIlo1nk-zoKJOr8k/edit?usp=sharing
    is indeed up to date
    Karrin Blue: :\
So opening a gdoc on phone doesnt make a nrw tab
    Boo
    Arxon: update please :3
Wiwaxia (GM): so lemi is with IP and TA at T=31:30
Leon just left messages for CL and Tia at T=28:30
Moss is getting a plane ride to prospit at T=28:00
Ilmatar just leveled up at T=27:00
and myrtha is poking around the Underground at T=31:30
    Arxon: thank you!
    Karrin Blue: Thanks
    Bird: cheers
    whimsy: "_"
Wiwaxia (GM): oh hey, whimsy, did you add your new power to your character sheet already?
    whimsy: not yet!
Wiwaxia (GM): k, make sure you also add something to say if it's charged or not
    it starts charged, btw
Karrin Blue: 1 use per charge?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
    whimsy: added!
Wiwaxia (GM): similarly, arxon, you should probably mark down somewhere that you currently have a stolen candle-flame stashed
    Arxon: ok!
    Wiwaxia (GM): alright!
    so who wants to start?
Arxon: Lemi is still furthest ahead
Wiwaxia (GM): well, myrtha's caught up to her, but yes
Bird: nnnot me, i am too sleepy to words properly
    Wiwaxia (GM): whimsy?
    whimsy: yes ::3
Ilma figures the Basilisk is some sort of local boss monster, but won't engage just now
first, the rust ogre and bismuth imp are gonna get pwned
(oh yeah, ilma's reasoning for taking the dispelling ability: truesight and other such things are prevalent fairy tale tropes)
Karrin Blue: I dont think myrtha logiced her unskng
    Unsong
whimsy: (for the moment, the whole "don't integrate stuff into your fantasy" thing is... beyond her.)
    Karrin Blue: Hee
    Wiwaxia (GM): (logiced it?)
whimsy: karrin, dont mind me, im just merrily setting up ilma for a very, very rude awakening at some point ::3
Karrin Blue: Decided which she'd take
    Ehehhe it should be beaaaautiful
    Wiwaxia (GM): ah, yeah
Karrin Blue: Forgive my phone keyboard
Wiwaxia (GM): well, breath is not an enably aspect
    :D
Karrin Blue: And this horrible mobile UI
whimsy: (having humans around who see her and tell her her classmates were assholes might help a lot)
    Arxon: (hugs 4 Ilma)
whimsy: well, you cant hit the breeze, it just goes elsewhere ::D
but in this context its real good that she aint a hope player
Karrin Blue: What did her classmates do?
whimsy: (well, there's a reason ilma says only people who believe in fairies can see her)
Karrin Blue: What were they just bullying fairies dont exist people or
whimsy: (for them, she plain didnt exist)
Karrin Blue: They just ignored her? All the time?
    Good god
    whimsy: ayup ::D
there was probably a clique where it started, and they cowed everyone else
Arxon: (so like I understand that they're on a timeline but when this kids all get together they're gonna take some time off, right? have a slumber party)
Karrin Blue: I think... Myrtha's dad loved her very much but because of his work hours he wasnt around during the week very much
And she had bullying because hey single dad rasiing a weird kid in a rural town, theres going to be nasty rumors
Myrtha learned to either be unfindable or
whimsy: (ilma's mom doesn't really know how to deal with the coping mechanism ilma is fielding, and it's slowly growing out of control)
Karrin Blue: Punch someone and fight back and if someone tries to push you back you make sure they dont do it again
whimsy: myrtha is going to get so many hugs from ilma
Karrin Blue: If you give an inch theyll take a mile, kinda thing?
    whimsy: yeah
Wiwaxia (GM): a black inch and a red mile, say?
Karrin Blue: So her modes are either vanish, fake polite, or punch to the jaw
    For dealing with weird stuff
whimsy: and it only makes it worse because theyre entitled jackasses and they cant take it to their egos to be pushed back
    Karrin Blue: Mm.
whimsy: Wi, Ilma is going to try and sneak up to the Rust ogre an Bismuth Imp over yonder
Wiwaxia (GM): yeah, setting up a zoomed in map, one sec
Karrin Blue: (Vs ut that is when you make it impossible to find you!)
    But
Arxon: (...tbh Lemi's conception of school is "that place where ghosts and serial killers go at night"
...or whatever she gleaned from Persona and such.)
    whimsy: (::D)
Karrin Blue: Homeschooled? Isnt Sis pretty cold with her?
    THESE CHILDREN.
Arxon: Yeah Sis is cold with her but she's not about to trust her education to the lizard people running the government)
Karrin Blue: Oh so sis genuinely believed that sorta thing
Then again we dont know who earths first guardian was
    Could be a lizardman
whimsy: just a tiny smol lizard that got eaten by a dude hunting colossi
Wiwaxia (GM): alright, there we go
enemies are actually to scale this time
    whimsy: ::D
ima sneak up on the imp first
    or try, at least
Wiwaxia (GM): you're a couple levels below it
whimsy: hmm then i might wanna climb up first
Wiwaxia (GM): you should be able to stay in the shadows of the ledges until you get close
but you'd have to break cover to climb
whimsy: yeah no better to climb up a bit further away where the chance it spots me isnt so great than when it can just come over and gnaw at my fingers
    Wiwaxia (GM): fair nuff
    go ahead and move yourself
there aren't any insurmountable cliffs between you and where you want to be
    whimsy: stealth roll?
(i wonder what a stealth roll would taste like)
BI: I wonder what a stealth roll would taste like. Cinnamon-y?
Wiwaxia (GM): go for it: dex, succeed you sneak up to within 6m, fail and it spots you with enough time to run (or seek help, if it's smart enough)
    whimsy: rolling 1d20+9
    (
    16
    )+9
    = 25
Wiwaxia (GM): kay, that's a narrow success
so it spots you at 6m, but it gets to act first
it takes a running leap at your face
    rolling 1d20
    (
    6
    )
    = 6
    whimsy: naww ::)
Wiwaxia (GM): misses and lands behind you
    Karrin Blue: :)
Ilmatar Nordwind: "I'll show you how it's done"
it takes a bladefan to the face
    rolling 1d20 + 1
    (
    19
    )+1
    = 20
    Wiwaxia (GM): yeah, it's dead
although go ahead and roll damage anyways
Ilmatar Nordwind: just from my base damage?
    rolling 2D4+1
    (
    2
    +
    2
    )+1
    = 5
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
    imps are chumps
    ypu get 6 build grist
    Ilmatar Nordwind: hooray ::D
now to do the same with that big mean rust ogre over there
Wiwaxia (GM): i'm sure this will be every bit as easy
note that it is on an island
that pink around the yellow is knee-deep water and rice
Ilmatar Nordwind: oh dear, so sneaking up on it wont be that easy
and other nasties could be in there
    anklegnawers
    three cheese tall anklegnawers
Karrin Blue: Three cheese tall anklegnawers would be a ba
    gbagood name for a band
Wiwaxia (GM): (technically going the long way round)
Ilmatar Nordwind: (Dreikäsehoch, translates to "three cheese tall person" and refers to a small child, usually)
Wiwaxia (GM): (how is german even a real language)
Karrin Blue: Did not know that!
Arxon: (that is the best word omg)
Wiwaxia (GM): (To GM) rolling 1d20
    (
    12
    )
    = 12
Wiwaxia (GM): anyways, you're standing on the ledge above the water
it's about a meter down to the water's surface, and then knee-deep under there
Ilmatar Nordwind: hm, do i wade through the water, or do i make the ogre come to me?
Wiwaxia (GM): the ogre's facing away, doesn't seem to have noticed you
Ilmatar Nordwind: hm, but they do have ears
    tricky!
and i really dont want to fight it in the water!
soooo ima going to taunt it
"OY, YOU'RE STANDING THERE LIKE SOMEONE ORDERED YOU BUT YOU WEREN'T PICKED UP"
("herumstehen wie bestellt und nicht abgeholt", "standing around like someone ordered you (like a ware) but didn't pick you up", in the sense of, you don't know what to do at the moment, purposelessness, confusion)
Ilmatar Nordwind: (also, something unwanted, depending on context)
Wiwaxia (GM): kay, i think i'm gonna run that as a will save for the ogre to notice and take the bait
might make a separate perception thing for underlings later, not sure
Karrin Blue: (Is ilmatar from germany?)
    Wiwaxia (GM): rolling 1d20
    (
    18
    )
    = 18
Karrin Blue: (I did not know this)
Ilmatar Nordwind: (ayup, ilma is from germany! ive said so a couple of times ::3 Schleswig-Holstein, to be exact)
Wiwaxia (GM): the ogre comes charging out into the water at full tilt
Ilmatar Nordwind: I ready my attack for when it wants to climb up the ledge on which i stand ::3
Wiwaxia (GM): it doesn't pause to climb
    Ilmatar Nordwind: o0
Wiwaxia (GM): just barrels straight into you and the ledge
Ilmatar Nordwind: it just bullrushes the ledge?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
    which is gonna damage it
Ilmatar Nordwind: i should be one and a half metre above it, though
Wiwaxia (GM): it's 2 meters tall
    Ilmatar Nordwind: hrmm
    Wiwaxia (GM): wait, 3 actually
Ilmatar Nordwind: the ogre and the ledge are gonna take damage?
and i probably need to make a reflex save because shit shakes
Wiwaxia (GM): the ogre, the ledge and you are all gonna take 1d12+2 damage
    Ilmatar Nordwind: OO_OO
Wiwaxia (GM): provided it hits, you of course
    rolling 1d20
    (
    7
    )
    = 7
    which it does not
Ilmatar Nordwind: that, alas, does not hit me
    Wiwaxia (GM): rolling 1d12+2
    (
    10
    )+2
    = 12
Ilmatar Nordwind: i am kind of glad that didnt hit em
    *me
Wiwaxia (GM): i'm gonna say the ogre and ledge take half damage from that, actually
because autohit and not the main target of the attack
    does that sound fair?
    Ilmatar Nordwind: ya
"Were you trying to make stairs for me? Oh, you shouldn't have. Makes a girl blush."
Wiwaxia (GM): the ledge warps a bit around the ogre's knee, but isn't seriously damaged
oh and it also bellows in your face, because of course it does
    your turn
    Ilmatar Nordwind: ::D
is it close enough for me to do my hit-and-run tactic?
Wiwaxia (GM): its literally right next to you
    Ilmatar Nordwind: perfect
Wiwaxia (GM): wasn't kidding about the "in your face"
Ilmatar Nordwind: i whack it with my fan and then bolt
    rolling 1d20 + 1
    (
    13
    )+1
    = 14
    Wiwaxia (GM): that hits, yeah
    Ilmatar Nordwind: rolling 2D4+1
    (
    2
    +
    3
    )+1
    = 6
Wiwaxia (GM): whoops, that actually did a bit more
    misremembered this things protection
    and moving?
it snaps at you as you move away
Ilmatar Nordwind: sadly, i do not have enough move left to do a rude booty dance
    Wiwaxia (GM): rolling 1d20
    (
    10
    )
    = 10
Ilmatar Nordwind: or is that a free action?
    Wiwaxia (GM): misses, though
probably not a full booty dance, but you can wag your butt mockingly as you run
Ilmatar Nordwind: (why am i playing a mage again?)
Wiwaxia (GM): cos sburb mages aren't quite the archetype?
    at least not always
Ilmatar Nordwind: can you imagine sollux doing a rude booty ance
    *dance
    Wiwaxia (GM): okay, fair
    meulin
    maybe???
    Ilmatar Nordwind: totally
so from that roll i gather it chased after me and tried to whack me?
Wiwaxia (GM): nope, got a free swing at you as you moved away
    Ilmatar Nordwind: ah
i was wondering when you would include that d&d mechanic bc iirc you didnt in the earlier battles
Wiwaxia (GM): to be clear, this is not a rules update
most things still don't get opportunity attacks
but this guy does for ~some reason~
Ilmatar Nordwind: kk, got it ::3
what's he doing in his turn?
Wiwaxia (GM): climbing up onto the ledge and waiting
    your turn
Ilmatar Nordwind: lemme guess, it's either prep an attack or taunting, aye?
and im 99% certain that ass prepared an attack for when i approach him
Wiwaxia (GM): could also be defending
    that's also a viable option
Ilmatar Nordwind: btw, that question was a thing regarding my options
either i taunt him or i prep an attack
    Wiwaxia (GM): ahhh, gotcha
yep, although defending is also a viable option for you
    or throw your bladefan
Ilmatar Nordwind: the thing is, i dont really wanna throw the bladefan until i get a secon one at least
    ima taunt ::3
"OY, someone REALLY fucked up during your creation. Metal isn't supposed to rust. Ah well, I suppose there need to be failures."
Wiwaxia (GM): yeah, i'm not even gonna give it an option to not fall for that
    rolling 1d20
    (
    16
    )
    = 16
    Karrin Blue: (:D)
Ilmatar Nordwind: welp that oen hits
    Wiwaxia (GM): it grabs you
Ilmatar Nordwind: hm, does that mean i get a bonus on hitting it?
(i am quite happy that i havent yet repeated any insults, and that that one apparently really hit home)
    Wiwaxia (GM): thaaaaank you internet
    anywas
    grappling time!
    rolling 2d10+2d0
    (
    8
    +
    9
    )+(
    0
    +
    0
    )
    = 17
Ilmatar Nordwind: (what do i need to roll?)
(i really hope this isnt damage)
Wiwaxia (GM): grapple button on your sheet and enter your level (4)
    Ilmatar Nordwind: rolling 4d6+8 (0)
    (
    1
    +
    4
    +
    2
    +
    3
    )+8
    = 18
Wiwaxia (GM): k, it fails to pin you
    your turn
you can keep wrassling or disengage and move away
Ilmatar Nordwind: can i attack it?
    like, its probably p close
Wiwaxia (GM): you can't do a normal attack while you're grappling, but if you beat it's grappling check you automatically do damage
assuming your weapon is one that would actually be useful in hand to hand combat, of course
    which it is
    Ilmatar Nordwind: ::D
Wiwaxia (GM): (but like, a longsword would be a no-go)
    Karrin Blue: Yeah...
Ilmatar Nordwind: (::D) (there was a swordfighting seminar thingie at nordcon last year, and once i figured out a thing, my opponent with the longsword just... well, i had a shortsword and very quickly dodged into her range)
(that was also the seminar where my ample use of sidesteps prompted the question if i was doing martial arts)
    Wiwaxia (GM): (nice)
    Karrin Blue: Nice!
Wiwaxia (GM): or i suppose you could step away and attack, because it blew it's roll on it's turn
Ilmatar Nordwind: that sounds like a good plan
Wiwaxia (GM): oh, that said, though

Wiwaxia (GM) The monster's bulk jostles you!
    You take 1 damage!
Ilmatar Nordwind: as ive said, there must be failures...
but yeah, sidestep and reintroduce my bladefan again
it seems the first attempt didnt stick
    Wiwaxia (GM): rolling 1d20-1
    (
    7
    )-1
    = 6
grabs at you ineffectually as you step away
Ilmatar Nordwind: Ilma has a very smug smile on her face
    rolling 1d20 + 1
    (
    11
    )+1
    = 12
    Wiwaxia (GM): that hits!
    Ilmatar Nordwind: rolling 2D4+1
    (
    2
    +
    3
    )+1
    = 6
Wiwaxia (GM): and that juuuust kills it
i'm gonna reroll it's drops on account of the bump up
Ilmatar Nordwind: on one hand, i feel like an asshole, on the other hand, man, those assholes are harassing my salamanders
Wiwaxia (GM): '268 build grist', 'healing gel for 1d6', '31 ink grist', 'healing gel for 4d4', '223 phosphorus grist', '13 rust grist', '100 aluminum grist'
Ilmatar Nordwind: ooh, i dont think ive seen ink grist before
Wiwaxia (GM): you have not, no
also, if you don't wanna use all that healing rn, you can't pick it up, but you can opt to leave it on the ground, which i'll mark on the map
Ilmatar Nordwind: yeeeah thats probably better
Karrin Blue: Is ink grist a mystery type in any of our recipes?
Ilmatar Nordwind: i am gonna take the 1d6 tho
    but i'll leave the 4d4
    rolling 1d6
    (
    4
    )
    = 4
Karrin Blue: Also afk for now)
Ilmatar Nordwind: also, dont think i dont see the weird thing on that island the ogre was standing on, heh
    i'ma approach it
Wiwaxia (GM): one sec, lemme finish adding all that grist
    Ilmatar Nordwind: ::3
Wiwaxia (GM): what can i say, that's what happens when one bumps up the drop values
are you wading out to it?
    Ilmatar Nordwind: yeah
Wiwaxia (GM): also @karrin, when you get back
nope, ink is not a mystery grist in any of the current recipes
Ilmatar Nordwind: this looks like a pile of grist
    of very strangely-coloured grist
    Wiwaxia (GM): not really
looks like all the other phosphorus grist you've seen
    Ilmatar Nordwind: eheh
whimsy suspects the same trap leon ran into earlier
i do not know if ilma has any reason to suspect anything
    i prod it
Wiwaxia (GM): it doesn't pop into your grist cache like normal grist
    you take 8 damage
    Ilmatar Nordwind: OUCH
    so, thats a trap "_"
Wiwaxia (GM): oh, that ignores protection, btw
Ilmatar Nordwind: BI: oh yeah, if you see strange grist piles in monster-infested areas, watch out, those might very well be traps
    ow ow ow ow
i think now might be a good idea to let the fake grist trap be a fake grist trap and go collect that healing gel, then the last imp, and then go back to the village
Wiwaxia (GM): here i'm gonna blow up the icon so you get a better idea of what you see when you take a moment to step back
    Ilmatar Nordwind: there...
    theres something below it?
    some kind of... dust?
Wiwaxia (GM): looks like mold or mildew
some sort of gunk sticking the "grist" to eachother and to the ground
Ilmatar Nordwind: i take a picture for future reference and send it to everyone
BI: ladies, update on the fake grist trap

Ilmatar Nordwind: do i have time to prepare an attack before it hits me?

    we're pirates!
    born buccaneers!
we'll get off this shitty ball of rock in no time flat!
Lemi Malloy: "I would like that very much."
    Alright, so
....By any chance did there happen to be, like, a mechanic in the iguana village?
Wiwaxia (GM): you don't think you saw anything even remotely mechanical in the village
the only metal you really remember was in lanterns and candlesticks
Lemi Malloy: "What do you think you need to fix your plane?"
Idiosyncratic Pirate: well, a new wingtip would be nice
And her engine's looking a bit worse for the wear, although it should get us off the ground
Lemi Malloy: "Would you just need metal to fix the wingtip?"
Idiosyncratic Pirate: Metal and something to hold it on with
Lemi Malloy: Alright, does Lemi think Sis has stuff back at the house that could fix the engine?
Idiosyncratic Pirate: one sec, doing some research

eh, i'm gonna say lemi thinks she probably does
she's probably seen sis mucking around in the guts of generators before
Lemi Malloy: Alright that's one thing!
But even if we stole all the metal from the iguana village, and we won't, that would b enough to replace the wingtip, probably
"...If we just needed to cruise without exiting the atmosphere, is there anything we could do to patch up the wingtip without doing full repairs?"
Idiosyncratic Pirate: Eh, I can fly without it just fine.
Okay, maybe not quite just fine.
    It's a little rickety.
But it takes a bit more than a clipped wing to keep the sky from me!

Lemi Malloy is starting to think that she can't do anything to help here
Idiosyncratic Pirate: I can fly above the darkness, but I don't want to, uh, get into another little tiff.
although, now that I think about it...
thats basically just a bunch of scrap metal on the wing, eh?
Lemi Malloy: "Don't you need that scrap metal to...be the wing?"
Idiosyncratic Pirate gives a shit eating grin
Idiosyncratic Pirate: Well, we can always take their other wingtip!
Or hell, with three we could probably mount a boarding action!

    Idiosyncratic Pirate: That's right!
Or if you like hand-to-hand better, I swoop em, you jump on and take out the pilot!
    Then we've got two planes.
Karrin Blue: (double the planes double the fun)
Idiosyncratic Pirate: The start of a wonderful fleet!
Lemi Malloy: "...Hey, have you ever seen an ogre?"
Idiosyncratic Pirate: Can't say that I have, no.
Tireless Author: Yes. I don't recommend engaging.
Lemi Malloy: "Would you say that the average pilot is harder to beat than an ogre?"
(Lemi is trying to gauge if this is a fight she'd be any use in)
Tireless Author: You know, I'm really not sure. I can't say that I've ever participated in a hijacking against my own countrymen.
Although I'm not going to lie, this is shaping up to be a much better story than the drought piece.

Lemi Malloy wonders if she could tell the pilot that she was a princess and they'd just give her than plane
    Lemi Malloy: ...Probably not
Karrin Blue: (if they're Derse then maybe?)
(if prospit they will likely show you their stabs)
Wiwaxia (GM): IP was shot down by dersite planes, yeah
Karrin Blue: (but I don't think moss has had similar help with prospit planes sooo who knows?)
Lemi Malloy: "Um- well I'm not the best fighter around, but I'll help you out!"
    Idiosyncratic Pirate: Alright!
    Let's go!
    HOIST THE JOLLY ROGER!
Lemi Malloy: (my other idea was "see if Hope Bullshit would tell me what direction my house is in" but this is far more exciting!)

Lemi Malloy blinks, looking around for something to hoist
Wiwaxia (GM): although I think I'm gonna cut there, so i have time to prep some more planes and shit
    Lemi Malloy: oK!
Wiwaxia (GM): this is gonna be great
    Arxon: :D
    Wiwaxia (GM): IP is great
Arxon: Lemi Malloy, maker of good life choices
    Karrin Blue: :D
    GET A PLANE
    STOP AT HOUSE
    THEN
    FLY OVER TO YOUR NEIGHBORS
    AND OUR NOT AWFUL PLANETS
    Arxon: yeah!
    Karrin Blue: or!
    alchemize plane
    with shoes or whatever
    backpack
wait none of us have a big enough modus for that
Arxon: (When I first met IP I was convinced she would kidnap Lemi and take her to the Veil so that she can get with the ectobiologizing)
Karrin Blue: (well at some point lemi _is_ gonna have to make sure we all exist buuut)
...also who among us has written down first guardian dna codes
Wiwaxia (GM): not expecting that to happen for A While
    Karrin Blue: anyone?
    or is that spoilers
    Wiwaxia (GM): yes, someone has
    Karrin Blue: ah ok
and we shall learn who has, sometime later!
Wiwaxia (GM): i believe the necessary information is actually in the logs, but I'm not gonna spell it out
Karrin Blue: well i know Myrtha was drawing on her dream walls
    pictures of swords, though
can sword drawings stand in for GCAT
Arxon: welp everyone time to play detective
    Karrin Blue: :D
(it WOULD be in the dreamrooms, if anywhere? or possibly in Moss')
    (cause books)
    (but Moss is already Space...)
(i think it was moss with all the books, i hope that's not wrong)
Arxon: I wanted to do a reread soon anyway
Wiwaxia (GM): well, everyone's got books, but moss has been the one using them as ammunition the most
    Karrin Blue: yeah
    Wiwaxia (GM): cos combat modus
    k m.: yep, have books
sorry, was trying to make stuff work better
Karrin Blue: we shall see, I guess!
Wiwaxia (GM): oh hey, moss, what is your full chumhandle?
    k m.: saxigenous inquisitor!
    last time i remembered, anyway
    Wiwaxia (GM): rock-producing?
    nice
Karrin Blue: and now we have everyone's! :D
    since kathy's is cuddleUniter iirc
and i came up with choralOssuary
    Arxon: yay!
Karrin Blue: (singing bonebox :) )
Ilmatar Nordwind: choral ossuary is such a great handle
    Karrin Blue: :D
    k m.: nice
Wiwaxia (GM): i should really put together a comprehensive list of ships and airplanes before next session
since y'all seem to be getting entangled in that side of the game
Arxon: Sorry guys Lemi can't be your friendleader she's busy running from her failures and becoming a pirate
Karrin Blue: (next time myrtha will find a ww2 era fighter in an underground tunnel)
Arxon: Unless she fails at pirating
    then she's good and fucked
Karrin Blue: lemi how dare you
we want to pirate as well
    let's be space one piece
    whimsy: (asdfgh)
    (space one piece yes good)
    Arxon: Guys what if
    we ditched SBURB
    and became Paradox Space Pirates
whimsy: (what kind of devil fruits did yall eat)
k m.: yssss space one piece
    Arxon: space one piece yesssssss
whimsy: (ilma ate the same fruit dragon did and no one can tell me anything else)
Wiwaxia (GM): apparently all my campaigns turn into pirate campaigns
whimsy: thats not necessarily a bad thing
    Wiwaxia (GM): :P
also, i'm gonna have to go download a book on wwii airplane combat and repair to go with the age of sail naval combat and repair one i downloaded for time pirates, aren't i
Karrin Blue: (some kinda devil fruit that basically lets Myrtha do waes' thing? idek)
(or soemthing to do with skeletons)
Arxon: how far up your pirate echeladder do you have to get before you get an awesome hat
Karrin Blue: (if anyone's characters have personalized ringtones for people. is myrtha's 'spooky scary skeletons send shivers down your spine')
Arxon: why is spooky scary skeletons coming up in both of the SBURB games?
(in mine one of the players prototypings was a novelty singing skeleton that sang various remixes of that)
    Wiwaxia (GM): oh god
what does that make the underlings do?
whimsy: gigantic song and dance number
underlings who can dancefight, erfworld style
Arxon: gives them an attack where u have to will save against dancing along
I am not terribly creative :V
    Wiwaxia (GM): so, uh

    Arxon: basically
and/or various remixes of Papyrus's theme
Wiwaxia (GM): i wonder if there's a mashup
    Arxon: There should be
if there is any cosmic justice
Wiwaxia (GM): well i did find this, but

Arxon: ...does not seem like skeleton dancing time
    Wiwaxia (GM): no, alas
anyways, i think I'm gonna call it a night
    will tally up xp later
    Arxon: mk
    thank you for running!
    Karrin Blue: gnight!
    Wiwaxia (GM): yeah!
Karrin Blue: see you next week!
    Wiwaxia (GM): see ya!
    Arxon: night!
    whimsy: n8 ::D
    greetings
it has ocurred to me that i forgot to add another hour to the time thing bc im not gmt but gmt+1
    Wiwaxia (GM): yarp
    Karrin Blue: Hello!
    how are things going?
    whimsy: tired
lost almost three days to a hyperfocus
trying to get those two maps done so im finally finished with them and can work on the rest
    Karrin Blue: D:
    are you ok?
    whimsy: you?
    yeah
    just
i need to get this game finished by end of march
i already am a week faster than anticipated which is good
but the last three days were mostly lost
whimsy: (i couldve done without that hyperfocus, but no, my brain had to make me bingread assassination classroom in two days and all the karmagisa fic i could get my hands on, find the fic mediocre, and almost make me write my own) (brain I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR THIS)
    Karrin Blue: there there
whimsy: homestuck and homestuck fic has me thoroughly spoiled
i expect quality from the fics i read .._.." and certain dynamics beyond flushed in the shipping fics but noooo
Karrin Blue: and way more inventive genitalia
    whimsy: ... that too
but its humans we're talking about here
but. guys. pacing. not using words like "bluenette" seriously. realistic depictions of emotional abuse.
    Karrin Blue: UGH bluenette
    you know
    i've seen brownette used
whimsy: ive seen greenette used once
    but brownette? jegus. thats brunette
    Wiwaxia (GM): aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
    whimsy: same, wi, same
i have to say in all its terribleness, at least some fics used the correct masculine version of bluenette, bluenet.
it was still terrible, but at least not completely
Karrin Blue: http://imgur.com/91CkEet i made a vaguely starwars Myrtha!
    whimsy: whee ::DD
Wiwaxia (GM): ehehehe i found the perfect plane for IP
    Karrin Blue: :D
    whimsy: awesome ::D
    Arxon: :D
    (hello!)
    Wiwaxia (GM): hallo
    whimsy: (hullo)
Wiwaxia (GM): gonna need a moment to clean up the image, though
    Karrin Blue: Hey
k m.: well, it's broken on my computer
but here I am on my phone!
    whimsy: (hullo moss)
    k m.: hi!
    Arxon: hi!
    Karrin Blue: heylo
    Bird: hiiiii
    Arxon: hey bird!
    Karrin Blue: Hi!
    whimsy: hullo bird
    k m.: hello!
    Karrin Blue: So!
    how're you doing bird?
Arxon: (http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm269/pyroarxon/Lemistarwar.jpg_zps6iss93il.png I did a Star Wars Lemi)
    Karrin Blue: :D
Bird: Sleeeepyyy. Body hasn't adjusted to this whole 'having a job' thing yet. Spent most of week drinking awful instant coffee and praying i wouldn't fall asleep at work
Karrin Blue: that generator is fun
    Bird: Hows everyone else?
    Karrin Blue: http://imgur.com/91CkEet
i guess those marks are like
    voidy?
    idk
Arxon: I love doll makers that give a bunch of color customization
    Karrin Blue: yeees
could stand to have more bodytypes tho
though i like how you can color the sclera
Arxon: Yeah there's a bunch of options
(ugh I wouldn't even be so annoyed at the "only one body type thing" if every single one didn't have the exact same body type)
    Karrin Blue: good for homestuckin
    yyeah
i think that's cause some of these are from the same maker
    rinmaru
    Arxon: yeaaah
(...I did not even consider the homestuck angle, I now need to make all of my fantrolls)
Karrin Blue: if only you could make more complex horns
and if horns meant yo uhad to be bald
    so
whimsy: (has an idea how to make horns in a generator) (no im not gonna make a dressup game no matter how much id like to ive got too much to do)
    Karrin Blue: good plan
    so game?
    Wiwaxia (GM): ayup
sorry, was getting a plane ready for IP
    Karrin Blue: of coure
k m.: and stuck on phone because computer isn't loading roll20, sorry. it feels like I have the dumbest computer issues
Karrin Blue: guh my back has been bugging me all day
i think i slept on it weird
    Wiwaxia (GM): :c
    blergh
    so timeline
lemi and myrtha are at about 31:30
moss is flying across the incipisphere at 28:00
leon has just finished messaging at 28:30 and put away his phone just in time to miss Myrtha's distress message
Wiwaxia (GM): and ilmatar is going to the consort village to try to warm up after dunking herself underwater to hide from an ash cloud
    at 27:30
    Arxon: thank you!
    Karrin Blue: thanks!
    k m.: sweet! thanks
Wiwaxia (GM): so who wants to go?
    Karrin Blue: I do!
    Wiwaxia (GM): alright
Karrin Blue: nah i'm in the underground
no wait that is the underground map
    nvm

Wiwaxia (GM): so you just finished beating up some ogres, yeah?
    Karrin Blue: I did!
    barehanded too
Wiwaxia (GM): so now you can see down the hallway
because the previously blocked door is no more
    Karrin Blue: it sploded
    more or less
    i've collected my haul, right?
Wiwaxia (GM): yep, i believe so
although i can go double-check the logs if you want
    Karrin Blue: eh, not now
    Anyways!
Myrtha Oscurr: The hallway is no longer blocked, so I shall head down it
I remember there was an imp of some kind there, can I see it?
Wiwaxia (GM): yep, as you round the corner
    it scrams, though
    Myrtha Oscurr: :/
Wiwaxia (GM): you could pursue it if you want
Myrtha Oscurr: I will continue down the hall, yeah
Wiwaxia (GM): gonna try to catch the imp up, or just strolling and letting it get away?
    Myrtha Oscurr: catch up
also I can't see the map
    Wiwaxia (GM): that better?
Myrtha Oscurr: No, it's just all black
even when I'm zoomed all the way out
Wiwaxia (GM): you're gonna wanna zoom in, not out
most of the map is deliberately hidden
    Myrtha Oscurr: yeah
    still nothing
    there we go!
So I shall pursue the imp
    Wiwaxia (GM): alright
gonna charge it, or run it down?
    Myrtha Oscurr: charge!
    d20 plus 2 right?
Wiwaxia (GM): the +2 is to damage, not to hit
    Myrtha Oscurr: alright
Wiwaxia (GM): although you do get +1 for being level 4
    however
    imp's got a prepped action
which it is gonna use to duck between your legs
so i think that'll make a punching charge miss, yeah?
    Myrtha Oscurr: Yeah
    Wiwaxia (GM): although, wait, actually
it's gotta make a check to do that
    rolling 2d20
    (
    8
    +
    13
    )
    = 21
    okay, narrow success
so the charge misses, but it loses its turn
    your turn

    Myrtha Oscurr punch
    Myrtha Oscurr: rolling 1d20+1
    (
    8
    )+1
    = 9
    :/
    Wiwaxia (GM): misses
Myrtha Oscurr: neither of us are having luck today are we
    Wiwaxia (GM): imps gonna
    hmm
gonna try to duck past you again
    rolling 2d20
    (
    5
    +
    12
    )
    = 17
    and fails narrowly
    Myrtha Oscurr: rolling 1d20+1
    (
    14
    )+1
    = 15
    rolling 1d20+1
    (
    19
    )+1
    = 20
    rolling 1d8
    (
    1
    )
    = 1
    rolling 1d8
    (
    4
    )
    = 4
Wiwaxia (GM): well, it wasn't quite done with its turn. but it was gonna defend, so
    still up
    because of that
Myrtha Oscurr: sorry, thought it was done
    Wiwaxia (GM): nah, no worries
    it's gonna move away
    4m
    and wait
    your turn
Myrtha Oscurr: is it far enough for me to charge?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
    Myrtha Oscurr: rolling 1d20+1
    (
    11
    )+1
    = 12
    rolling 1d8+2
    (
    5
    )+2
    = 7
    Wiwaxia (GM): rolling 1d20
    (
    19
    )
    = 19
    Myrtha Oscurr: wow
    Wiwaxia (GM): rolling 1d4
    (
    1
    )
    = 1
well that didn't do much for poor imp
iirc that gets soaked by your protection entirely
    and it is dead
    quite dead
    Myrtha Oscurr: :D
Wiwaxia (GM): 6 cobalt grist', '6 build grist', '2 cobalt grist'

Myrtha Oscurr collects spools of victory
Wiwaxia (GM): you're in a dim, empty room
there's an open archway at the far end
    you can't see much else

    Myrtha Oscurr > move forward
    Wiwaxia (GM): one sec, afk
    okay, back
you continue through the far doorway
the hallway is like before, dim and sloping down, but there are no wires along it now
Myrtha Oscurr: Well I shall continue down it till I find the end, or some crossroads
Wiwaxia (GM): you walk into a door
    quite literally
    Myrtha Oscurr: "Ow."

Myrtha Oscurr looks for a doorhandle
    Wiwaxia (GM): nope
    smooth glass
Myrtha Oscurr: Can I see through it...
Wiwaxia (GM): probably, but it's dark
Myrtha Oscurr: How thick is this glass
(also afk for a sec, sorry)
Wiwaxia (GM): judging by the sound it makes when you bumped into it, fairly thick
Myrtha Oscurr: I don't think I'm QUITE strong enough to break through it, then
    Hm
Any weird seams or cracks in the door?
Wiwaxia (GM): feeling around, there's a gap right around where it meets the wall
the door continues into the wall
    Myrtha Oscurr: Huh
    so it
is more like a big panel in the middle of the wall
so in that case, the way to get through it would be to somehow get the panel to slide aside, since there's no place where it would open from in what's visible?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep, exactly
    Myrtha Oscurr: any visible mechnisms?
    levers, whatever?
Wiwaxia (GM): your investigation also reveals that it is slightly concave towards you
    cylindrical
Myrtha Oscurr: is the room circular then
Wiwaxia (GM): you can't really see, but you can keep feeling around the area
you're not in a room, you're in the hallway
    so same width as before
    Myrtha Oscurr: ahhh
    Wiwaxia (GM): also, mistyped
    convex towards you
Myrtha Oscurr: so, random shot in the dark: this can only be opened from inside, past it is the denizen lair
anyhow, hm, no levers? or wires, or weird root things?
Wiwaxia (GM): more feeling around reveals a track at the bottom
    Myrtha Oscurr: Hm
Could I try and like... slide the door along that track
    how well-balanced is this
    Wiwaxia (GM): you can try
trying reveals that the door is far too heavy and far too slippery
Myrtha Oscurr: like, water slippery, or glass slippery
    Wiwaxia (GM): glass
    Myrtha Oscurr: Hmm
...So it seems a bit likely that the ogres and imp came out of here? or they spawned randomly
but they definitely seemed timed to me doing something with that wire
so i am going to go BACK to the wireroom
can I find the one staticky wire
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
Myrtha Oscurr: is it still doing the staticky thing
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
    are you unsinging?
    Myrtha Oscurr: Sure
Now, what I THINK I need to do. Is give this wire some kind of song to carry? Or whispers or somesuch?
either here or wherever all these things sprout from
And this'll either work, do nothing, or summon more monsters, IDK.
Wiwaxia (GM): it's super taught, as you are unsinging

    Myrtha Oscurr stops unsinging

    Myrtha Oscurr sings something else?
Wiwaxia (GM): as before, the wire comes loose, then catches
and sends out a pulse of "notice me!" feeling
    Myrtha Oscurr: Hrm.
I do not really know how to communicate to a wire that I am, indeed, noticing it
unless it is more talking to the monsters and is basically a magical alarm system
    ...are more monsters coming?
Wiwaxia (GM): gonna sit and wait?
    Myrtha Oscurr: Guess so
    in the name of SCIENCE
Wiwaxia (GM): (To GM) rolling 1d20-10
    (
    20
    )-10
    = 10
Wiwaxia (GM): (To GM) rolling 1d20-10
    (
    10
    )-10
    = 0
Wiwaxia (GM): (To GM) rolling 1d20-10
    (
    19
    )-10
    = 9
Myrtha Oscurr: If there's nothing I'll head back to the crossroads
Wiwaxia (GM): a cobalt imp shows up from the same direction as before after a little while
and by "shows up" i mean "pounces on you from the shadows"
    rolling 2d20
    (
    8
    +
    19
    )
    = 27
    19 hits
    rolling 1d4
    (
    3
    )
    = 3
Myrtha Oscurr: does that get soaked up by my armor?
Wiwaxia (GM): i dunno, you tell me
    Myrtha Oscurr: protection is 2
Wiwaxia (GM): so you take 1 damage
    Myrtha Oscurr: bar updated
so I will punch this guy
Wiwaxia (GM): also it's climbing on you now
    Myrtha Oscurr: wow rude
Wiwaxia (GM): nb. if you miss, you will hit yourself
    or you can grab it
Myrtha Oscurr: i will grab it
    Wiwaxia (GM): rolling 1d4+1d0
    (
    1
    )+(
    0
    )
    = 1
oh would you look at that you won the grapple check
    Myrtha Oscurr: hehe
so what do I roll to attack it at this point
    grappling or attack or
    Wiwaxia (GM): you don't
    Myrtha Oscurr: ah
    is it dead then
Wiwaxia (GM): you can just slam it into the wall for 1d8
    or throw it
    Myrtha Oscurr: rolling 1d8
    (
    7
    )
    = 7
    slamming it into the wall
    Wiwaxia (GM): it's dead

    Myrtha Oscurr collects spoils
Myrtha Oscurr: so that wire is more like an alarm system, ok
Wiwaxia (GM): '12 build grist', '4 build grist', '3 cobalt grist', '6 build grist'

Myrtha Oscurr will unsing and head back towards the crossroads then!
Wiwaxia (GM): glass door is still in place
Myrtha Oscurr: nah I meant the other one
    Wiwaxia (GM): that one?
Myrtha Oscurr: the one ahead of that by the text that looks like 'n room' to me
i think that's a crossroads at least? i am not sure
    yes
Wiwaxia (GM): that's the dead end with the nyx fountain at the end
    Myrtha Oscurr: ohhh
    ok
then i shall head back to the first crossroads
and head down the one path I haven't taken yet
Wiwaxia (GM): there's a fork in the hallway, but both sides lead into a room around the corner
    k m.: (a fork? pick it up!)
    Myrtha Oscurr: hee

Myrtha Oscurr will head around the...
    Myrtha Oscurr: left side
Wiwaxia (GM): the hallway is unremarkable
    the room however, is not
it's a small room, but it sounds vast and echoing
    there's a mural
Myrtha Oscurr: what sounds are echoing, I'm basically a sonic deadzone right?
    like, water dripping?
    also

    Myrtha Oscurr fondly regard art
Wiwaxia (GM): oh are you still unsinging?
    Myrtha Oscurr: yes
Wiwaxia (GM): ah, then no echoing
the mural is of dunes and wires and low hills in the background
when you blink, you're not quite sure if the hills are the same as before

    Myrtha Oscurr blinks again
    Wiwaxia (GM): still not sure
    almost like a weird anti-deja-vu
    Myrtha Oscurr: ,,,Hmm

Myrtha Oscurr will see if she can take any kind of picture here
Myrtha Oscurr: idk about the light but if it will have that blue cursive stuff
    Then that'll show up anyways
Wiwaxia (GM): yep, blue cursive all over
    Myrtha Oscurr: anything readable?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yeah no
    Myrtha Oscurr: figured
    Oh hm

Myrtha Oscurr puts her hand over one of the carved hills and blinks again
    Wiwaxia (GM): it's the same
not sure about the other ones, though
    Myrtha Oscurr: Hmmm I see
And this is the end of the hallway?

Myrtha Oscurr looks for any out-of-place looking chunks of wall that might be nudged to open a secret passage
Wiwaxia (GM): nope, there's a hallway on the other side
Myrtha Oscurr: ah! then I will head thataway
Wiwaxia (GM): there's a fork, with a dead end in one direction and an imp in the other

    Myrtha Oscurr charges the imp!
    Myrtha Oscurr: rolling 1d20+1
    (
    18
    )+1
    = 19
    rolling 1d8+2
    (
    1
    )+2
    = 3
and I THINK I had an extra attack for now? lemme check
yeah i think I do, if the slamming the imp into the wall counts
    rolling 1d20+1
    (
    3
    )+1
    = 4
    rolling 1d8+2
    (
    7
    )+2
    = 9
Wiwaxia (GM): '8 build grist', '6 cobalt grist', '1 cobalt grist'
    Myrtha Oscurr: yay
Wiwaxia (GM): continue down to the room?
    Myrtha Oscurr: ys
Wiwaxia (GM): this room is also open to the surface
scentless white flowers cover the floor
    Myrtha Oscurr: Oh huh, VEGETATION
do they llook like any flowers I know?
    Wiwaxia (GM): http://www.wildnatureimages.com/images 3/071020-143..jpg
    Myrtha Oscurr: Huh ok
Can I get to the surface easily?
Wiwaxia (GM): yeah, there's spiral stairs stepped into the walls

    Myrtha Oscurr : Ascend
Wiwaxia (GM): and i think i'm gonna switch people, i think
    Myrtha Oscurr: sounds good!

Wiwaxia (GM): who wants to go next?
Arxon: (I do if nobody else does)
    Wiwaxia (GM): sure, one sec
sorry, emotional troubleshooting bullshit happening with family
    :/
will ping you when i am available again
    Myrtha Oscurr: oh no!
    Karrin Blue: good luck!
    Arxon: yikes 0n0
take as much time as you need, good luck
Karrin Blue: ok I have to go to bed
Hope things end up ok, Wiwaxia
    gnight guys
    Arxon: night Karrin
    whimsy: n8
im not getting anything done atm either, so im gonna go to sleep as well
    Arxon: kk
    night, whimsy
Wiwaxia (GM): okay, that got sorted at least
sorry about bailing halfway through the session like that
Arxon: It's fine, personal stuff takes precedent
    Are you ok?
    Wiwaxia (GM): whoop missed that
    yeah, i'm okay
    Arxon: I'm glad
    I'm gonna turn in, then
    Night!
    Karrin Blue: Hey
    whimsy: hullo
Karrin Blue: So we have the first stabbing of the new chapter, it seems
    well, fatal stabbing
k m.: hi, I keep falling asleep suddenly today so if I disappear, it's because I fell asleep
    Karrin Blue: Oh dear!
Did you not get enough sleep?
    Wiwaxia (GM): hallo!
k m.: sleep has been...weird this week. the schedule has been weird, so I keep waking up at different times. also I badly messed up my sleep schedule because st paddys day
    hi wiwaxia!
Karrin Blue: I'm watching Miraculous Ladybug
k m.: the first episode was so cute! I'm thinking about watching the rest, but on the other hand, I found a decent copy of the musical for reefer madness
    Karrin Blue: both excellent
    and yeah it is cute!
k m.: also today I told the Starbucks lady my name was moss and she wrote "Loss"
presumably because my life is a tragedy
    Karrin Blue: D:
k m.: on the other hand, she gave me a truly ridiculous amount of blue whipped cream and sprinkles
    Karrin Blue: oh good
Wiwaxia (GM): oh, shit, just realized i didn't tally exp for the last couple sessions
gonna do that now while we wait for bird
and then start if he hasn't showed up by then
    Karrin Blue: Poor Arxon
k m.: yeah, brainweasels are the worst
    Karrin Blue: They aaare
k m.: annnnnd successfully switched to laptop without any explosions
    Wiwaxia (GM): 640 for ilmatar
    580 for myrtha
you wanna get that added, or should I?
    Karrin Blue: I got it
    ...aaand one sec
6025 if my math is right
how much till I level up?
    Wiwaxia (GM): 2000
    Karrin Blue: yay!
Wiwaxia (GM): whimsy, have you added that?
    whimsy: nope
im mucho distracted tonight idk why
Wiwaxia (GM): happens to the best of us
alright, I got that all added
Moss, you haven't had a chance to go in a while, do you wanna?
    k m.: whoops, sorry
    yes!
i think last time, moss was starting to go "hey wait a second, getting me halfway to derse means dropping me off at prospit, i may not have thought this through"
though really, do they think anything through? nope
Karrin Blue: actually i think prospit is in the other direction
Wiwaxia (GM): yep, you are correct!
Karrin Blue: unless you're starting at skaia
Wiwaxia (GM): not at this point in their orbits
Karrin Blue: i mean prospit is the closest body to skaia, isn't it
k m.: oh good, neither of us are great at directions
Wiwaxia (GM): yeah, and moss is on the far side of the medium from derse
    Karrin Blue: ahhh
Wiwaxia (GM): so skaia and prospit are halfway there
    Karrin Blue: ok
Wiwaxia (GM): don't worry, i made up an orbits reference thing to keep this straight
i'm not doing all this off the top of my head
    Karrin Blue: oh good
    k m.: this is amazing.
so, moss is correct in going "hmmmmmm thinking things through is not my strong suit" ?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
    k m.: yssssssssss shiny plane
Wiwaxia (GM): the pilot suddenly shuts off all the plane's lights
and banks into the vast shrouds of LOFAC
Moss Kaplan: Moss is like, staring out the window. "What's up? Why're the lights out?"
Wiwaxia (GM): thick darkness, deeper and more obscuring than the mere empty blackness of the medium washes over the plane
Karrin Blue: (because the lights would splode otherwise?)
Wiwaxia (GM): strange shadows jump leeringly from behind every piece of equipment in your observer's compartment
Moss Kaplan: "Hey that's cool and weird and a little freaky."
-yet again, regrets not being able to take pictures with anything here
Wiwaxia (GM): there's a speaking tube between your compartment and the pilot's
they mention that it's quicker to fly through the atmosphere of LOFAC than to try and skirt it
and it means that they can't be watches, although the pilot doesn't think there's much risk of attack for a pick up from the Veil
besides, it's "perfectly harmelss" up this far from the ground
    even without candlelight
Moss Kaplan: "...what's wrong with closer to the ground?"
Wiwaxia (GM): oh, you need a candle or the darkness will eat you
there should be some packed in with your parachute back there
not somewhere you wanna get shot down haha
Karrin Blue: ((meanwhile, back with lemi and her pirate buds))
    ((someone sneezes))
Moss Kaplan: ."The darkness will eat me. Uh huh."
Well, moss reasons, they just flew through space and got picked up in a rad plane. in space. darkness could totally eat you. dreams are weird.
Wiwaxia (GM): (nb. moss has been awake on prospit for years)
Moss Kaplan: (yeah, i'm just going with, moss is starting to go "is this not a dream?" and so is currently clinging to the idea that they're all in some weird contagious mass dream. if you say dream enough times, things start making sense)
    Wiwaxia (GM): (gotcha. works!)
Karrin Blue: ((so moss is just under the impression that EVERYONE has dreams that are continuous from one night to the next and whatnot))
    ((huh!))
Moss Kaplan: (yep. or, if they have suspicions otherwise, they're avoiding proof otherwise)
(look, as a sixteen year old, i refused to read Wikipedia articles that would prove me wrong)
Karrin Blue: ((oh yeah i mean it makes sense icwise))
    Moss Kaplan: ( :D )
Wiwaxia (GM): the plane banks and suddenly you can see jagged islands of red rock rushing by through the blackness and mist
then the darkness shifts and suddenly you can barely make out the inside of the canopy above your head
thick, oily shadows pour out of every nook and crevice, submerging you in choking darkness
and then they whisk away like a cloud past the window
the pilot turns the lights back on
LOFAC fills the sky behind you, vast and red and dark
Moss Kaplan: "well that was cool and weird and a lot freaky"
    Wiwaxia (GM): the pilot chuckles
Moss Kaplan: "so how often do you do this cause i mean this whole experience is new to me"
Wiwaxia (GM): the pilot explains that they've flown pretty much everywhere in the medium
including some flybys of Derse itself
    for monitoring purposes
Moss Kaplan: "so if you flew me all the way to Derse. for flyby purposes, and then maybe you were missing a passenger..."
    Wiwaxia (GM): Uh huh
    yeah, no
the pilot explains that they aren't the one taking town observations
that would be the one in your seat
besides, with the War begun, Derse's air defenses are probably a lot more serious
there is a pair of binoculars back there if you want to take a look around, though, they tell you
Wiwaxia (GM): but don't walk off with them or anything
Moss Kaplan: -moss immediately grabs the binoculars
"so how close, theoretically, could you get me to Derse without getting in danger?"
    Wiwaxia (GM): prospit.
Moss Kaplan: "How about just a Little bit in daner"
    *danger
    hell
    pilot: nice try, kid
    no
Moss Kaplan: "well, I mean, either you fly me there, and I get there quicker and safer. Or, I fly there myself, and maybe i get lost or captured or something terrible..."
"really, i'm going to derse one way or another. i have to find my friend. you'd just be making this quicker"
Wiwaxia (GM): the pilot says that they appreciate the lackluster attempt at a guilt trip but you have failed to consider little things like "orders" or "chain of command" or "court martial"
    whimsy: (pfft)
Wiwaxia (GM): ((also what do you guys think about this more descriptive rather than direct dialogue for carapacians, in line with canon?))
Moss Kaplan: moss rolls their eyes so hard they give themself a headache.
    ((i like the descriptive, actually!))
    Karrin Blue: (yeah!)
    whimsy: (i like it too)
Wiwaxia (GM): so are you looking around with the binocs?
Moss Kaplan: (sorry, connection's getting laggy)
yes! moss, sulking, is looking around with the binoculars because binoculars are cool and clearly this convo is going NoWhere
    Wiwaxia (GM): alright!
    where are you looking?
    Moss Kaplan: hmmmmmmmm this way!
    Wiwaxia (GM): which way?
Moss Kaplan: dammit ping isn't working, hang on
Wiwaxia (GM): in terms of 12 o clock from the plane's nose?
    Moss Kaplan: 9
Wiwaxia (GM): There's a planet there
one sec while I double-check whose
it's also dark, deep blues and blacks
but not swathed in clouds and shadows like LOFAC behind you
    Karrin Blue: ((oh!))
Wiwaxia (GM): you can see sparkling glimmers of bright blue-green on the shores of blacks seas
Karrin Blue: ((goodness there's colors other than blue black and grey here? Something to look out for I guess))
Wiwaxia (GM): and great lines of trees marching over hill and trackless desert towards some vast, towering forest in the south
    Moss Kaplan: that's cool
((wait, whose is that, i have the memory of an amnesiac goldfish))
    Karrin Blue: ((min!))
    ((Myrtha's))
    ((land of wires and whispers))
Moss Kaplan: ((oh sweet! well, there's a forest!))
    Karrin Blue: ((woo!))
Wiwaxia (GM): gonna keep looking for details of LOWAW or look somewhere else?
Moss Kaplan: details! moss looks more closely, possibly fiddling with the binoculars in the process
    Wiwaxia (GM): oh damn
running the numbers, you should be able to get couple-meter resolution with those binoculars at that distance
Karrin Blue: ((oh man pity I was either inside or underground for... this area? Or you could see me!))
((this period of time I mean))
Wiwaxia (GM): wrong angle on the planet, also
    Karrin Blue: ((yeah that too))
Wiwaxia (GM): shit, now I'm wishing I'd mapped more of LOWAW's surface by now
in any case, you can see that the sand of in the deserts and several areas of bare rock (?) are glossy under skaia's light
    Moss Kaplan: neato
Wiwaxia (GM): actually, i can show the map i do have as a sample
too big for roll 20 to take it, though, so gimme a moment to upload it imgur
Moss Kaplan: ooh even better :D
    Karrin Blue: :D
    Wiwaxia (GM): hum te tum

    Wiwaxia (GM) twiddles thumbs
    Wiwaxia (GM): there we go
    http://i.imgur.com/DiEl0c1.jpg
    Karrin Blue: oooooh
Moss Kaplan: hot damn, that looks cool
    Wiwaxia (GM): :D
    Karrin Blue: :D
Moss Kaplan: hmmmmm, well, im turning to the other side (3) to see what's out that way

  15. Wiwaxia

    Wiwaxia problematic taxon

Wiwaxia (GM): there's another planet coming up on that side
unlike the two before, it's bathed in light
    Moss Kaplan: wow, shiny
    i look closer
Wiwaxia (GM): peach and golden light streams across its face and down from clouds
light catches off the deep, murky waters that cover the entire planet
scanning around, you can see vast scalloped fronts of waves and clouds, as well as calmer areas
one one side of the planet you can see a thicker mass of greyer clouds breaking up, with high waves scudding before them
    Karrin Blue: ((leon's?))
Wiwaxia (GM): elsewhere, a low mist catches the light into a nimbus of sunrise
Moss Kaplan: what a shiny planet
    i like it
Wiwaxia (GM): a glint of amethyst catches your eye
    no, two
    moving through the clouds
    Moss Kaplan: MORE shiny?
    Wiwaxia (GM): moving fast
they pass out of your field of view almost before you notice them
Moss Kaplan: i lean and try to get a better focus
    "hey what's that?"
Wiwaxia (GM): here, i'm gonna show you what you see
flipping the background to the approximate color of the water, and...
    you ready?
    look there and keep looking
    Moss Kaplan: shiny!
    aw
    gby shiny
Wiwaxia (GM): moves out of your field of view again
Moss Kaplan: "ok seriously what's that"
Wiwaxia (GM): the pilot asks what
Moss Kaplan: "like, shiny amethyst things. moving fast"
Wiwaxia (GM): the pilot says fuck
    the pilot asks where
    those sound like Dersite fighters
Moss Kaplan: "3 oclock, moving to twelve, in the shiny golden planet"
Wiwaxia (GM): The pilot tells you to open up the logbook there by you, write 1, then 0352, then LORAM
and then write down exactly what you saw
Moss Kaplan: i do so, adding "2 amethyst dots, moving quickly"
    Wiwaxia (GM): alright
    you gonna keep looking around?
Moss Kaplan: "soooo what're you going to do?"
Wiwaxia (GM): the pilot says their orders haven't changed, and they're still taking you - and the logbook - to prospit
    Moss Kaplan: "ugh, lame"
    yep, I keep looking around
looking closer at the shiny golden planet because eh
    Wiwaxia (GM): lots of roads
spooled out over the water like spaghetti
actually, only partially rising out of the water in places
    even more like spaghetti
    or linguine, really, you suppose
    Moss Kaplan: coolio
kind of a terrible DOT here, really
Wiwaxia (GM): anywhere else you wanna look?
you're getting close to Skaia, now
Moss Kaplan: yep! I wanna look at skaia
Wiwaxia (GM): the pilot begins to tip the plane down "under" it
it rolls serenely in the blackness, like a colossal marble
    or a sky turned inside-out
you can't penetrate the blue and scudding clouds to the battlefield that you know is inside
but you can still see, deep in its core, a beating heart of light
    around which all circles
    Wiwaxia (GM): it's mesmerizing
    you feel filled with inspiration
Moss Kaplan: (i am filled with determination)
    "dude."
Wiwaxia (GM): (no, i'm pretty sure i said inspiration)
    ((:P))
    Moss Kaplan: (( :D ))
Wiwaxia (GM): you lose track of time staring into the spiraling core of Skaia
next thing you know your reverie is being interrupted by the plane turning away in the final approach to Prospit
the pilot smoothly airbrakes the plane to a gliding stop just outside the room atop your tower
Moss Kaplan: "Well, i guess that was a cool experience. anyway, now i'm on my way to derse, thanks for the ride"
Wiwaxia (GM): the pilot gives you a Look and makes a disgusted noise
Moss Kaplan: i grin and give him a thumbs up. a really sarcastic thumbs up
"toodles, have fun with not getting court martialed and all that"
Wiwaxia (GM): he gives the engine just the tinest rev to pull away from, then banks the plane away
    Moss Kaplan: i wave
hm. i wonder if i can find clothes here that Aren't shiny and gold
    Wiwaxia (GM): good
    luck
Moss Kaplan: yeah, that's what i was thinking.
    eh.
in keeping with my traditional way of not thinking ahead, i'm going to fly away
Wiwaxia (GM): (To GM) rolling 1d3
    (
    1
    )
    = 1
    Wiwaxia (GM): which way
also, one sec, lemme check where prospit's moon is in its orbit with regards to skaia
    Moss Kaplan: towards derse!
ok, literally the opposite way i flew last time
Wiwaxia (GM): kay, the prototyping towers are pointing towards skaia right now
last time you just put the moon straight behind you and booked it
Moss Kaplan: hm, shit, ok, do we have a visual thing of this? i can't hold that many things in my head
Wiwaxia (GM): since everything interesting is in a plane, you can just show me the direction you're flying with a measurement arrow
my reference isn't really in exportable form, is only of dubious comprehensibility to people other than me and contains potential spoilers, sorry
    here, i'll sketch something
Moss Kaplan: ok, that would be cool, sorry, this is starting to feel like math to me, and the theory is screwing with my head
Wiwaxia (GM): alright, super quick mock-up there
    Moss Kaplan: k
so wait are all the circles orbits or are someof them just planets
Wiwaxia (GM): that clear up which ones are planets?
    Moss Kaplan: yeah
Wiwaxia (GM): the scale on this is actually not too bad, either
Moss Kaplan: wait, dammit, couldn't i have just waited for derse to come around in orbit back there
    Wiwaxia (GM): yes
not that you know its orbital period
or its current location on its orbit
Moss Kaplan: ok so literally i could go in any direction because it's not like i'll ever get this stuff
Wiwaxia (GM): you do know where on prospit's orbit you are, at least relative to the circle of planets
and you know that prospit was "about halfway to derse" half an hour ago
Moss Kaplan: sorry this is literally feeling like a story problem and now i feel like i'm getting graded, it's not you, it's literally that i'm really screwed up over math
ok where was i half an hour ago then
    there?
Wiwaxia (GM): eh, it is supposed to be a puzzle but this is DnD, not math class
Karrin Blue: ((hm, Prospit makes a complete orbit every 3 days right?))
Wiwaxia (GM): you can try to find a way to cut the knot
    or go do something else
or just take random stabs at it
    Karrin Blue: ((Hmm...))
Wiwaxia (GM): i can think of a couple other possible solutions than just mathing it out off the top of my head
Karrin Blue: ((well you are the space player?))
((do you know any spacey tricks yet))
((um, slingshot around skaia? think you'd need some propulsion first...))
Moss Kaplan: i'm sorry, you've unlocked my "if i don't get this right i'm a failure" trap card
was this where i was a half hour ago?
    ping broke itself
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep, right about
Karrin Blue: if it helps i can't think of any good ideas either
Moss Kaplan: do i know which direction derse goes?
Wiwaxia (GM): also, you're not a failure if you can't get it, just for the record
that is one of the pieces of information you are missing
Moss Kaplan: k, so i could either go here
    or here
    maybe
    ish
Wiwaxia (GM): (you don't really need to get more precise than that, given the distance at which you should be able to spot derse)
Moss Kaplan: eenie meenie miny moe
catch a tiger by the toe...
    aiming this way
    Wiwaxia (GM): alright!
    don't believe that scale
    it lies
Karrin Blue: ((heading over my planet? good choice :) ))
((we have scenic telephone poles and teleporting snakes))
    Moss Kaplan: swiggity swag
Wiwaxia (GM): it's off by a factor of about 12,000
    Moss Kaplan: pff
    Karrin Blue: well fine then
Wiwaxia (GM): also, that was just me measuring a thing, moss is going in a different direction
so you've decided to head thataway
what are you going to try to keep your bearings by?
    Moss Kaplan: i'll shoot flares.
pff, um, can i see the planets from here?
    Wiwaxia (GM): oh hell yeah
put up your fist at arm's length
that's how much of the sky the closest planet takes up
Moss Kaplan: oh sweet, well, in between light green and light blue, that's my bearing
Wiwaxia (GM): in terms of what those planets actually look like, by the way
"light blue" is iridescent and stepped in places and dark and swirling elsewhere
    "light green" is somewhat green
    less than ususal
Moss Kaplan: ((also thanks for dealing with my weird and hilarious brainweasels! sorry they are a thing.))
    ooh shiny
Wiwaxia (GM): getting rather brown around the edges, reall
((no worries! sorry to trip them like that))
    oh, just as an aside
want a description of the last planet as seen from this distance, before you go?
Moss Kaplan: ((any time it's math. except, weirdly enough, binary & digital electronics. my brain = ?????. i feel like they'll come up again, but i just have to trip myself into shoving through))
    absolutely
Wiwaxia (GM): it looks like someone's thrown a quilt over a blue fabric ball
    Moss Kaplan: oh neat
Wiwaxia (GM): one of those scrap quilts, where all the colors are just whatever you had to hand, arranged in some sort of emergent pattern
Moss Kaplan: that is super neat
    i approve of these planets
    and now
    nyoo,m
    Moss Kaplan: ......
    *nyoom
Karrin Blue: ((ok it's early here i gotta go to bed))
    ((gnight guys!))
    Wiwaxia (GM): night!
    Moss Kaplan: niiiiight!
    whimsy: (n8)
Wiwaxia (GM): a bit under two hours of very boring flying later...
    Moss Kaplan: whhhhhheeeeeeeeeeee
i look around for derse or prospit flyers
Wiwaxia (GM): derse is coming into view behind what is at this distance very obviously your Land
Moss Kaplan: oh hey is dat derse?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
Moss Kaplan: i wave as i pass by
Wiwaxia (GM): at what, your land?
    Moss Kaplan: yup
    Wiwaxia (GM): wait one sec
lemme check if you actually can see your house from here
    Moss Kaplan: yssss
Wiwaxia (GM): whoops got sucked into the bpdanon thread
    that was a mistake
    anyways
yes, you can see your house from herre
a paper thin white line against the mud brown
    Moss Kaplan: yesssssssss
    i wave
((i'm wreaking havoc on the jaegermonster skype chat right now with angst, so you're good, though they might not thank))
    and then i continueeeee
Wiwaxia (GM): hokay, actually back now
    also, as a timeline heads-up
you are gonna be waking up in a little over an hour to have a conversation we've already seen about nyx
    Moss Kaplan: oh! ok cool
    so i gotsta hurry
gotta be cool and badass and bring the party
Wiwaxia (GM): alright, you meet derse about here with about 30 minutes on the clock
where are you going to go?
Moss Kaplan: castle. right? yes. she was last in the castle, wasn't she?
Wiwaxia (GM): there's a bunch of fighters and a couple big battleships hanging out a ways away from derse, but none of them seem to have reacted to you
Moss Kaplan: oh right that's a thing.
    .....i need derse clothes
    somehow
    do i see a castle?
    i look around
    Wiwaxia (GM): you see this
    Moss Kaplan: shit
    ....i'm gonna go closer
Wiwaxia (GM): (so glad i got the big derse and prospit images done for this session)
Moss Kaplan: and hopefully not get mugged but like if they do maybe we can trade clothes WHO KNOWs
Wiwaxia (GM): can you move where you're in closer to?
the architecture is very similar to prospits, but the same set-up of spires and bridges does not have prospit's airy and open character
Moss Kaplan: still, maybe this means i can lurk
    in my bright gold outfit
Wiwaxia (GM): instead, shadows and grime cast it as a maze of twisted streets dropping away to honeycombed darkness below, like a worm eaten log of buildings
Moss Kaplan: "dude this is so metal"
    i whisper to myself
Wiwaxia (GM): as much positive space as negative space, until you can no longer tell which is the building and which the street
Moss Kaplan: maybe if i get mugged they'll tell me where lemi is
whimsy: theres some kind fo flaw in that logic but i cant put my finger on it
Moss Kaplan: i am an excellent planner aheader
Wiwaxia (GM): are you attempting to get mugged
Moss Kaplan: .....i may be attempting to get mugged.
mostly because ok, so a. i could look for lemi in the half hour i have left
    b. i could look for a helpful dersite who won't try to straight up mug me
    c. i could actively try to get mugged, and then i won't feel bad if i need to hit people
....also it's less embarassing to go "yeah i got mugged" than "yeah i asked for help and got mugged"
whimsy: (would it be inappropriate to make an "its a trap" joke here)
Moss Kaplan: ......i think i just convinced myself that's a good idea, shit
Wiwaxia (GM): so that's a yes?
Moss Kaplan: yes, i am trying to get mugged
    i'm gonna walk around
    looking clueless
Wiwaxia (GM): alright, if you're trying to look clueless, you can either make a grace check and get mugged on a success
or make an int check and get mugged on a failure
    your call
    Moss Kaplan: grace check
    come on dice
    rolling d20 +16

Wiwaxia (GM): oh would you look at that theres a knife
    under your chin
    whee
    Moss Kaplan: yayyyyy
    just one?
    Wiwaxia (GM): just one
    for now, at least
    you were looking clueless, remember
you don't bring out the big choppers for any old schmuck
Moss Kaplan: oh good i'm so glad i'm doing this
    behind me?
Wiwaxia (GM): a deep woman's voice from behind you informs you to and over what you've got
    and quick-like
    (To GM) rolling 1d6

Moss Kaplan: "well, all i have are these kinda dumb pajamas and also some free kicks"
i say, stomping on her feet and whipping my head back
    can i do that
    i'm assuming that's a roll thing
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
    that's gonna be an attack
also, this is probably the time to inform you that your dreamself has your level 1 hp
    Moss Kaplan: rolling d20 +1
    (
    10
    )+1
    = 11
    yep just saw that
Wiwaxia (GM): that hits her, yep
Moss Kaplan: so if i used my head (haha) then it's with the d6 right?
Wiwaxia (GM): eh, d8 for the kick
    (To GM) rolling 2d6

    Moss Kaplan: swaggg
    rolling d8

    )
    = 4
Wiwaxia (GM): i'm gonna interpret the kicking the head back as she can either choose to take damage or let you get loose
    Moss Kaplan: ok cool
Wiwaxia (GM): she's gonna let you get loose
she tells you yes, yes you're very badass, she's impressed
Moss Kaplan: "ok really I did this on purpose, i
    m
    UGH enter key
    "...i
Wiwaxia (GM): now actually give her everything you've got before she starts screaming for the police and the mob about violent prospitian infiltrators
    Moss Kaplan: (noooooooooo)
"ok really i did this on purpose, i'm looking for le- i'm looking for someone dressed like me but in derse purple"
Wiwaxia (GM): she tells you she'll give you to the count of three to start giving her your shit
    one
    Moss Kaplan: i tackle her
    yolo
    rolling d20 + 1

    Moss Kaplan: ouch
    Wiwaxia (GM): rolling 1d8

Moss Kaplan: i say a lot of bad words
Wiwaxia (GM): on the forest floor]
    in LODAF
    Moss Kaplan: godDAMMIT
    is just one of them
Wiwaxia (GM): anyways, you've been out cold in the mould for 5 hours, so you get 5+1d6 hp back
    Moss Kaplan: well THAT'S good
Wiwaxia (GM): and the damage your dreamself took does not count towards your waking self, if that wasn't clear

  16. Wiwaxia

    Wiwaxia problematic taxon

Moss Kaplan: i kind of figured that, glad i was right
whellllllp, and then i get the convo ping, right?
Wiwaxia (GM): after sitting on the ground swearing for a few minutes, yeah
then you have this bit of chat which becomes much more amusing now
    sI: huh, Nyx?
aG: I am pretty sure she's Greek? Something to do with night, so maybe there is some Greek god or titan or whatever of day that's she's opposed to?
aG: Oh wait yeah Moss you probably have this
    cO: Hi Moss!
Wiwaxia (GM): sI: well, I mean, Nyx was pretty important to Greek history and culture...let me see what i can remember!
sI: Ok, well Nyx was one of the first gods. like, hard-core elemental kind of goddess. think, like, chronos, gaea. she's usually, yeah, depicted as night
sI: though either her opposing god is Hemera or Eos - the former being the elemental goddess of day, and the latter being the goddess of the dawn
sI: i'd go with her opposite as being Hemera, personally, it seems more legit
cO: Anything about Nyx in particular?
sI: well, she was kind of a bad ass. even zeus was in awe of her. and, hey, points for being a single mother at some point: she made the three Fates, Sleep, Death, Strife and Pain all on her own self
Wiwaxia (GM): cO: So that's something to consider
cO: How's your bullshit fantasy adventure been going?
sI: you know. bullshit. fantasy. but adventurous!
    Moss Kaplan: jesus christ
yep that's a lot more hilarious
Wiwaxia (GM): anyways, i'm about winding down
anything you or whimsy wanna do real quick before we call it a night?
Moss Kaplan: yeah ditto, i have already massively destroyed my sleep schedule this week
    k m.: also i
    whimsy: not particularily
k m.: 've been sitting in the laundry room for a good five hours now so i should leave soon
whimsy: my sleep schedule has been buried in a shallow grave and is currently fertilizing my plants
    k m.: -pats whimsy's sleep schedule-
whimsy: and im not gonna get much sleep today ::/
Wiwaxia (GM): i'll leave some flowers on its grave
it's the least i can do
whimsy: bc the library doesnt open until 10 am and i need to go there to print sth out i need on monday that i really dont wanna print on monday, and after that its a couple of hours until my moirail arrives and i still need to cook xxD
Wiwaxia (GM): also, moss, you get 400xp for gazing into the core of skaia
    whimsy: congrats ::D
    k m.: whooooooo!
Wiwaxia (GM): and possibly some for making to the other Kingdom, will need to think about that
but even just the 400 will put you up to level 4
    so, space powers!
    k m.: yesssss
Wiwaxia (GM): you also get +1 to a single save of your choice
    k m.: huh.
    plus one to will save
i can put that in i think
    yes
Wiwaxia (GM): increment, not separate +1, but yes
    all the will!
    you now have like
    k m.: oh cool
    there
Wiwaxia (GM): a 20% chance of failing a will save
    k m.: sweet
    Wiwaxia (GM): anyways
    gnight
    k m.: gnight!
    whimsy: n8 ::D
    Karrin Blue: Heyo
    Arxon: hello!
    Karrin Blue: How goes it?
So, Bird's showing up, but Whimsy can't, I think
    and Moss can't
    Arxon: mk
I am pretty good, how about you?
    Karrin Blue: p good!
Arxon: I'm reading through what happened last week
    Bird: heyo
    Arxon: hey!
    Wiwaxia (GM): oh hey, people!
my roll20 didn't refresh for some weird reason
    Arxon: Derse players club :D
    Karrin Blue: weird
    woo!
    derse represent
    Bird: thumbs up
Karrin Blue: too bad timeline won't let us have a meetup on the moon
    probably
    oh well
    Wiwaxia (GM): well, also
    leon's tower
    Karrin Blue: yea
...so hey if leon's dream body is dead, i wonder if it's in the crypt
    where Aradia's was
Arxon: Alright read through Moss's Space Adventures
Wiwaxia (GM): yep, that's pretty much last session in a nutshell
    Arxon: hm
I mean it'll be hard to find unless Lemi and Myrtha decide to do some hardcore exploring
    or Derse gets blown up
    Bird: it is a mystery
    Karrin Blue: or
    if leon dies
    and then resurrects immediately
probably should avoid testing that tho
(or there might be records in the derse newspapers about a funeral for the Prince)
Bird: i'm so curious and also the least equipped to find out
Wiwaxia (GM): I think I'm gonna start with you, btw
Arxon: (Maybe Lemi can do some intel when the ball comes around)
Wiwaxia (GM): because lemi and myrtha are still the furthest ahead
Bird: prbably a good plan :P
    Karrin Blue: yep
    Arxon: ye
    Bird: lemi malloy: super spy
Arxon: lemi malloy: probably not that thing you just said
Karrin Blue: i'm just hoping that the next time Myrtha sleeps she doesn't end up in the horrorterror party again
Wiwaxia (GM): also leon gets no conversations with either of you for his next hour, because you are both kinda busy dealing with a certain Tentacle Incident
Leon Gaspar: sburb game out of context.txt
Wiwaxia (GM): so what are you going to do?
Karrin Blue: though will leon be able to see my grimspeak help mesage
Wiwaxia (GM): you just left messages for terhanu and Tia
Leon Gaspar: iirc i was gonna check out downstairs again
Wiwaxia (GM): gonna alchemize anything before you go?
oh which reminds me i should update the grist chart for you guys
    one sec
Leon Gaspar: can i get a link to that actually?
    Wiwaxia (GM): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1f9wxkdpQLfknYaDBoqn6EwplSwoRIlo1nk-zoKJOr8k/edit?usp=sharing
Leon Gaspar: woo! alright lets try the flail || flower crown
Leon Gaspar makes ALL the weapons
Wiwaxia (GM): You spend a couple minutes twiddling your thumbs while you torrent woad grist from Myrtha
    then you make CASUS BELLIS
Karrin Blue: (that's a great pun)
Wiwaxia (GM): it's a giant fucking daisy that you can whip round by the stem
    (ehehehe, i'm glad you approve)
    Leon Gaspar: i feel fancy!
    ok lets try &&
    sorry myrtha :V
Wiwaxia (GM): this torrents much less woad
    and makes the Flailer Crown
    Karrin Blue: (nah it's cool)
Wiwaxia (GM): like a flower crown
    but instead of flowers
    it's little interwoven flails
does nothing, but looks metal af
Leon Gaspar: that's so punk rock
Karrin Blue: (prolly gonna borrow some of yours to see how I can make the sword||radio insulator thing)
Leon Gaspar: (i've seen a vinyl basilisk so i'm going to try and get us some sweet ? grist)
    Karrin Blue: (niiiice)
    (but be careful)
    (basilisks are The Worst)
Leon Gaspar: i put on my collander and then put my flailer crown on top of my collander
    and i'm off!
    (ahahah. haha. ha. haaaa.)
    (you're not kidding)
(whoa it's hella windy outside. very atmospheric)
Wiwaxia (GM): your flailer crown makes a somewhat annoying metal-on-metal dinging on your colander, but this is a small price to pay for fashion
    going downstairs?

Wiwaxia (GM) casually pulls up the ep 1 chatlogs
    Leon Gaspar: yep!
    Leon Gaspar follows suit
    Leon Gaspar ah, nostalgia
Wiwaxia (GM): whoops i lied it's in ep 2
so there was that door you unsuccessfully tried to batter down the first time
Leon Gaspar: oh man i had a torch last time
Wiwaxia (GM): until you dropped it in the water, yes
Leon Gaspar: ...i didn't get that far
    whoops, oh well
okay yeah the door! let's do that
i'm just gonna go ahead and equip my basic flail for this one
    rolling 1d8
    (
    6
    )
    = 6
Wiwaxia (GM): loud noise but nothing else
    (To GM) rolling 1d6
    (
    3
    )
    = 3
    Wiwaxia (GM): keep whaling?
or try one of your other flails?
Leon Gaspar: i am actually tempted to give casus bellis a go
    hey, why not, right?
    Wiwaxia (GM): alright
Leon Gaspar equips a giant daisy. just a giant fucking flower
Wiwaxia (GM): that'll be 1d6+4 damage
    Leon Gaspar: rolling 1d6+4
    (
    6
    )+4
    = 10
whoa that's actually a pretty cool damage roll
    Karrin Blue: nice
Leon Gaspar: giant flower: actually a neat weapon!
Wiwaxia (GM): the door wraps around the flower head and the top hinge tears straight off
you hear a pinging off the wall behind you, then off the stairs below
the lower hinge and the latch are still in place, but the top half of the door is bent in and ripped free of the frame
you could try to climb over or bash it the rest of the way down
    (To GM) rolling 1d6
    (
    5
    )
    = 5
    Leon Gaspar: i. hm.
    Leon Gaspar looks at flower
Leon Gaspar: well climbing didn't go so well last time so let's see if we can get lucky twice
    rolling 1d6+4
    (
    1
    )+4
    = 5
    or....not :P
    Wiwaxia (GM): rolling 1d6
    (
    6
    )
    = 6
    you mostly miss
doesn't even make much of a noise
just a kind of dull ding
Karrin Blue: what kind of daisy is this...
Leon Gaspar: well i guess we're climbing
Wiwaxia (GM): you can just keep beating on it btw
Leon Gaspar: (yeah I uh. i can't answer that. i seriously thought it was a joke weapon)
well...actually yeah i'm gonna do that
Wiwaxia (GM): but the noise might attract underlings
Leon Gaspar: that's kind of what i want :V well imps anyway
that's what i'm tossing up, anyway
fuck it, one more go. i really don't like climbing
    rolling 1d6+4
    (
    5
    )+4
    = 9
    Wiwaxia (GM): bang
that swing catches the door in the middle of the fold and tears it the rest of the way out of the wall
Leon Gaspar: starting to understand the whole flower crown thing
    Wiwaxia (GM): mm?
    rolling 1d6
    (
    2
    )
    = 2
in any case, you can now see into the room
it looks much cleaner than the storage closet downstairs
Leon Gaspar: as in, flowers are pretty punk rock as it turns out
    alrighty
gonna listen out for any movement
    Wiwaxia (GM): can't hear anything
Leon Gaspar: aaaalrighty, let's explore the room
Wiwaxia (GM): it's pretty dim, but you can make out shapes
looks like the door has done a pretty good job keeping this side dry
there's a narrow space lined with shelves, looks like mostly janitorial supplies
and then another door at the far end
    Leon Gaspar: oh sweet, doors!
i quickly look through the janitorial supplies. sometimes janitors have flashlights!
Wiwaxia (GM): alright, i'm gonna do a google image search
and grab one that looks good
anything you can find in the picture, you can find
    Leon Gaspar: sweeet
    Wiwaxia (GM): http://photos.news.wisc.edu/photos/20242/original/custodial_Kaminsky15_4735.jpg?1435616067
Karrin Blue: (you know I wonder if those moonflowers I found would do anything cool if combiend with flower crown)
(maybe i'll combine them with flower crown and labtopband)
    (probably not)
(grab those towels and tape, that's just generally useful supplies)
Bird: towels for the towel god, tape for the tape thone
    wait
    Leon Gaspar: much better
    towels, tape, and that ladder
    Wiwaxia (GM): alright!
go ahead and add em to your misc items
    Leon Gaspar: done and done
now let's check out the far door
Wiwaxia (GM): this one isn't rusted shut, although the paint is starting to peel
    locked, though
    Leon Gaspar: of course
    Karrin Blue: (hey leon)
    (do you think)
Leon Gaspar: (yes, mysterious voice in my head?)
Karrin Blue: (that if I took one of Myrtha's more complete animals and combined it with a keyring)
(i could get a skeleton key??)
    Leon Gaspar: ( B) )
    Karrin Blue: ( 8) )
Leon Gaspar: (this is the kind of shit i like to see)
which way are the hinges mounted? towards or away from me?
Wiwaxia (GM): the door opens in, away from you
    Leon Gaspar: ok good
let's try and break the lock
    rolling 1d6 + 4
    (
    5
    )+4
    = 9
    Wiwaxia (GM): buh-bye, lock
    rolling 1d6
    (
    1
    )
    = 1
    (To GM) rolling 1d8
    (
    5
    )
    = 5
    Leon Gaspar: hooray!
alright let's push that door open
Wiwaxia (GM): it swings open, revealing a quite large boiler room
looks like there was an explosion of some sort in here some time ago
scrap metal and cans, both opened and unopened, are strewn across the floor, but dust lies over everything, undisturbed
    Leon Gaspar: oh. creepy.
    what kind of cans?
    Wiwaxia (GM): unlabeled
Karrin Blue: (enough cans to build a town?)
Wiwaxia (GM): wanna try to get one of the unopened ones open?
    Leon Gaspar: yeah!
(I need a snack.....but there are no snacks. suffering)
Wiwaxia (GM): (To GM) rolling 1d20
    (
    9
    )
    = 9
Wiwaxia (GM): you hear something climbing the stairs behind you
    Leon Gaspar: i spin around!!1
    er, !!!
are they approaching immediately or do i have time to duck out of sight?
Wiwaxia (GM): one sec, lemme draw the map
please ignore the giant glowing ball,
Leon Gaspar: i cant see it so ok :V
Wiwaxia (GM): it's standing in for light from the garage above
    how about now?
    Leon Gaspar: ahh
from the garage? is there a hole in the roof?
Wiwaxia (GM): no, this is coming down the stairwell
    Leon Gaspar: ohh, roger
so is that imp behind me (coming from the stairwell) or in front (from the boiler room)?
    Wiwaxia (GM): from the stairwell
    Leon Gaspar: gotcha
alright, has the imp seen me?
    Wiwaxia (GM): nope
Leon Gaspar: sweet, gonna duck 'round the corner and ready an attack for when it comes in range
    Wiwaxia (GM): like there?
    Leon Gaspar: y...yes
    it dark
Wiwaxia (GM): sure would be nice if you had a flashlight, huh?
    Leon Gaspar: sure would
Wiwaxia (GM): well all the enemies have moved
Leon Gaspar: i can see one right next to me so i'm gonna hit it
    Wiwaxia (GM): kay
    you get two attacks, then
the prepped on and then your turn
(wasn't gonna give you the prepped attack if you didn't notice it)
Leon Gaspar: gonna flail that daisy

    Wiwaxia (GM): that hits!
Leon Gaspar: should i roll for dmg again?
Wiwaxia (GM): nah, that is more than enough to kill it
    Leon Gaspar: sweet
ooookay let's move baaack into the light
    oh for fuck's sake
do i still get that second attack
    Wiwaxia (GM): nope, surprise
in any case, i have good news and i have bad news
    Leon Gaspar: mmmmmhmmmmmmmm
better be some real good news
    Wiwaxia (GM): more light
Leon Gaspar: aaand the bad news?
    Leon Gaspar heavy sigh
Leon Gaspar: can i youthroll or am i still surprised?
Wiwaxia (GM): yeah, reflex save to youthroll
    Leon Gaspar: rolling 1d20

my reflex is 15 so, success?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
    you can move 1m
    Leon Gaspar: pchoo
oh that's me that's missing health
our bars looked combined and i thouht for a minute that i'd hit it with that rogue hinge
Wiwaxia (GM): you take 1 damage from an evil aura
    bypasses protection
Leon Gaspar: also, did i see what attributes it has?
Wiwaxia (GM): leopard face, kimono with a green castle on it, flippers
    Leon Gaspar: dang
    whose turn?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yours
Leon Gaspar: how far can i move?
    Wiwaxia (GM): 6m
or do you mean where are the walls?
Leon Gaspar: well that too but mostly range
Wiwaxia (GM): the walls should have collision on now
Leon Gaspar: hrm i kinda dont wanna be running too far into the dark but this thing can presumably run as far as i can
Wiwaxia (GM): basilisk's gonna stop there and look around

Wiwaxia (GM) The monster's bulk jostles you!
    You take 1 damage!
Leon Gaspar: can i attack then move?
Leon Gaspar forgot how this game works
Wiwaxia (GM): that does not bypass protection, btw
    yes, you can
    Leon Gaspar: oh hey, good
    gonna smack it first
    rolling 1d20+1

oh, wow, really not bad at all!
    alright, movement, movement...
that sure is a big ol' lizard standing in my way!
    gonna siiiidle on over here
    Wiwaxia (GM): okay, lemme think
about what the basilisk knows you did, that is
it knows you slipped by it, but not where to
and it got a lucky fire breath recharge roll
so it's gonna flip around and try to smoke you out

Wiwaxia (GM): oh, should roll some object saving throws
Karrin Blue: (at least idk if this one can TELEPORT)
Leon Gaspar: (i don't think we've worked out which prototyping does that? if any)
Wiwaxia (GM): ans then you moved there, right?
Leon Gaspar: (i'm reasonably certain evil aura is onryou, swimming is either nessie or just leon's bad luck)
    yep!
Wiwaxia (GM): also, reminder, there's two things per object prototyped
Leon Gaspar: (shapeshifting is obviously ilmatar's prototyping) (at least i think it's ilmatars? she prototyped the doll right)
    ooooh
(oh yeah, so it's tied to which thing? hair/kimono etc)
Karrin Blue: (...myrtha inputted 4 things)
    Leon Gaspar: (interesting)
    Karrin Blue: (in that case)
Leon Gaspar: (you don't gotta reply, i'm just speculating)

    Leon Gaspar: (aww nuts :c)
Wiwaxia (GM): but i dunno if you've actually seen that one do its thing
although you have seen imps prototyped with it
Leon Gaspar: (not that i remember but that's not saying much :V)

    (that is why i asked)
    Leon Gaspar: (ok thank)

    and leaving the fire there?

Wiwaxia (GM): also, remember there's water in the stairwell a flight an a half down
Leon Gaspar: oh you're right! let's do that
i'm gonna try and put out the fire or at leastmake it less fiery
    ...does that say 'stairs bro'
    Wiwaxia (GM): yes
Leon Gaspar: ok but seriously i'm gonna go downstairs and dunk a towel in the water

    Leon Gaspar: wait wait waIT
    can i scratch that
    Wiwaxia (GM): kay
Leon Gaspar: i brought....a WATER BOTTLE
Karrin Blue: (but is any of this water drinkable)
Leon Gaspar: how big a paint can are we talking
actually thinking about it a water bottle might not have enough water to douse a towel
Wiwaxia (GM): see that can that says mautz in the image?
    Leon Gaspar: ahh
hm well. i try soaking a towel with the water from my water bottle first
Karrin Blue: (can you replace the water in there easily)

    Leon Gaspar: (i...think)
    (alrighty sweet)
ok so assume it's a 1L water bottle. how wet is my towel?
Wiwaxia (GM): you can get one corner nice and wet or the whole thing kinda damp
Leon Gaspar: i mean i have two towels so i'm gonna go for 'damp' and if that doesn't work i'll go adn soak the other one downstairs
Wiwaxia (GM): not quite out, but just smouldering now
Leon Gaspar: ok gimme a rundown of what exactly i can see
it's that hour of the morning where i've forgotten how to put information together
Wiwaxia (GM): paint can with damp towel over it
    not spitting flame, much dimmer
    still smoking
paper's just embers and drifting ash at this point
    nothing else is aflame
Leon Gaspar: ok yes thank you
    this is good
Wiwaxia (GM): if you stay in the room too long, i'm gonna have you start making fort saves versus smoke inhalation
Leon Gaspar: in which case i should probably go locate a torch and something to put over my mouth before i go retrieving grist
i'm still gonna grab that mop
    Wiwaxia (GM): kay
that'll grab you the imps' grist by the way
    just by walking over it

well, the paint can's still smoking
    Leon Gaspar: alright!
    well...yeah
Wiwaxia (GM): but doesn't seem likely to do anything but smoke in the immediate future
Leon Gaspar: but i figure there's not much else i can do without a light source, so that's future!leon's problem :V

IP says see, she's practically a crewmember
    what's all this 'hostage' talk
    ta sighs

well, actually first, get the plane turned around and pointed downhill
    Lemi Malloy: hmmmm
I'll leave the imp with her
(how many skull and crossbones does your ship need, IP)

Lemi Malloy: "Did you make that yourself?"

    from bullet casings
    and bullets
    bullets lodged in her plane
    after her first raid
Lemi Malloy: "That is so cool"
I will take a picture and send it to my friends

    Lemi Malloy: perfect
Wiwaxia (GM): and there is your target
Lemi Malloy: So do I wait until it is close enough for me to get on?
Wiwaxia (GM): that's an option, yeah
you're also in the gunner's compartment so you could try that
Lemi Malloy: I'll ask IP what I should do
Wiwaxia (GM): IP says she's gonna cut the engines and glide close under the veils of LOFAC's darkness, then try to climb above your target before they can react so you can board
but you'll need to get to the cockpit
and get in before the pilot can roll
Lemi Malloy: This seems like a great idea!
Alright, I'll tell her I'm ready to go at her word
Wiwaxia (GM): okay, there, that;s actual size for both planes
IP says TA's got the guns
    TA says hell no
IP says, okay you can shoot the guns if you feel like it before you board, try not to give away the surprise, but if you've gotta try to hit a prop or a steering flap
    and cuts the engine
Lemi Malloy: Alright, I'll man the guns

Wiwaxia (GM): on the tail and the trailing edge of the wings
also, you've still got a candle lit
so you don't have to deal with the shadow bullshit inside the plane like moss did on their flyby
    Lemi Malloy: ahhhh yeah
Wiwaxia (GM): IP starts the engine and starts to climb
the other plane banks and starts circling to face you
    Lemi Malloy: Alright
I will aim at the propellers and see if I think I can get a good shot
Wiwaxia (GM): kay, how automatic guns work
is these ones do... oh let's say 2d6
and then every additional bullet after the first is +1 to hit and to damage
conversely, every let's say 5m of distance is -1 to hit and to damage
you can spend as many bullets as you want
    your total right now is

Wiwaxia (GM): the other plane's got it's nose locked onto you which IP isn't happy about, but she's climbing over it
    how many bullets?
Lemi Malloy: at 150m that is 30 bullets until the minuses go away, so lets sayyy about 50?
    Wiwaxia (GM): kay
the plane's def is gonna be about 20 probably, more for the props, but you can miss them and still hit the plane
    so 1d20+20
Lemi Malloy: do I just roll the last one?

Lemi Malloy: I can try and do something impossible by making a check at a disadvantage
    so I could try and

Wiwaxia (GM): then you can use that stat
well, can you bullshit something with int that'll get you out of this?
Lemi Malloy: the only thing I can think of for int is
calculate the angle/way of hitting the plane to either get onto the plane or not take damage?

How close is this to the village?
Wiwaxia (GM): and besides, that's still a lot of scrap metal if you can find the crash site
no idea, but the plane is gonna crash pretty much at random
and is going fast and uncontrollably enough that potential impact sites include about half the surface of lofac
so the chances of it hitting the village in particular are very small

    ...thank you
    Wiwaxia (GM): or 46, rather
    brain
    900
    xp
    Lemi Malloy: added
Wiwaxia (GM): halfway to level 5!
    Lemi Malloy: yay!
I am scared for what is gonna happen with the plane!
....Lemi is just going to take this time before the inevitable inferno to do that curling into a ball and crying previously mentioned
Wiwaxia (GM): remind me to throw a digital dart at my lofac map sometime before next session
    Lemi Malloy: alright
Wiwaxia (GM): IP is only slightly better that Lemi at life choices
after all, she didn't see anything wrong with the jumping onto out-of-control-plane plan the first time round
so she's gonna offer Lemi some grog to try and cheer her up
    Lemi Malloy: ...Lemi takes it
Wiwaxia (GM): oh and for the record, you are at 0 hp, because even with cheating death you technically did take that 45 damage
    Lemi Malloy: Makes sense
does that mean if I get hit before healing it'll be a +3?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yes, it would
Lemi Malloy: ...I don't suppose grog has curative properties?
Wiwaxia (GM): eh, sure, why not
    1d4 hp
the amount of hp recovered is proportional to how drunk you are after
    Lemi Malloy: rolling 1d4
    (
    3
    )
    = 3
Wiwaxia (GM): so, more than somewhat tipsy
IP is also gonna wrap her awesome pirate longcoat around you for now, although she says she's gonna need it back eventually
    that is +3 def, incidentally
Lemi Malloy: Lemi will thank her through tears
    And then apologize
Wiwaxia (GM): IP is having absolutely none of it
IP says that was the most pirate thing she's ever seen
she is throroughly impressed with her new crewmember, even if you didn't get a plane to fly
    yet
she suggests holing up somewhere nice and quiet in the veil for a bit, though
Lemi Malloy: (fuck does Lemi know what the Veil is yet?)
Wiwaxia (GM): (IP mentioned it in passing as prime piracy targets, but probably not beyond that)
    Lemi Malloy: "...What's the Veil?"
Wiwaxia (GM): IP explains that it is a bunch of asteroids in a belt a little ways inside the orbit of derse
all the materials for the war are made there, both prosipit and derse
but there's also a lot of asteroids with nothing on them, or abandoned buildings only
perfect for holing up when the law starts getting a bit hot to handle
Lemi Malloy: "Are there underlings out there?"
    Wiwaxia (GM): not really
there's some abominations growing in tanks for the war, she says, but those are different, she thinks
and they're all stuffed in tanks
    creepy as hell
Lemi Malloy: Lemi says that sounds really cool
Wiwaxia (GM): IP says it's decided then
    To the veil!
Lemi Malloy: Lemi will raise her glass/mug/bottle/liquid holding unit to that
Wiwaxia (GM): IP's plane's engine dies halfway there, but she makes a quite nice gliding landing on a deserted-looking asteroid
which we will have to pick up next week
    Lemi Malloy: alright!
    that was!
    fun!
Wiwaxia (GM): that was a hell of a session, yeah
Lemi Malloy: ...I am glad that Lemi is going to presumably have adventures with ectobiology after this she needs some cute ass babies
Wiwaxia (GM): also, amusing meta thing
one of the things grace coveres is common sense, etc
so it makes sense that lemi's gotten even more reckless after taking that grace damage
    Lemi Malloy: ...oh my goooddddd
Arxon: I was rationalizing it as her getting more and more desperate to do something right but
    yeah
yeah that definitely also makes sense
    Wiwaxia (GM): both is good
    or, uh, not
    but, you know
Arxon: Lemi is a disaster tbh
anyways, I gotta do some dishes so I'll log off for the night!
    Wiwaxia (GM): night!
    Arxon: night!
Wiwaxia (GM): oh, and the rest of lemi's xp
120 from damage dealt and taken
    rolling 13*10/3
    13*10/3

to lemi, TA and IP from imps
    hello!
    Karrin Blue: Hello!
I refreshed the page and it tossed me over to episode 6
    for some reason
    but yay other people
    Arxon: hello!
...does exp round up, down, normally, or remain decimal
    Wiwaxia (GM): normally
but i think i already added that
Arxon: Yeah I think you did
    thank you!
    Karrin Blue: so
    you got bisected
    Arxon: only for a little
Karrin Blue: i think it still counts!
anyways you're going to the veil?
to make all of us as babies?
    Arxon: hopefully!
    Karrin Blue: heh
    hopefully
Arxon: I think Lemi needs some babies in her life rn
    Karrin Blue: mm
and then perhaps she can come visit someone else
Wiwaxia (GM): well, if she can salvage or otherwise get shit to IP for repairs
    or find a transportalizer
Arxon: we didn't even salvage the enemy ship
I set fire to LOFAC for no reason orz
    Karrin Blue: ahaha
land of fear and candles and SO MUCH FIRE
    lofacasmf
    Arxon: a+
possible side effect: If the entire forest catches on fire are the crawling motherfuckers just
    launched into the atmosphere?
Karrin Blue: can't lurk in the dark if it's ALL ON FIRE
Wiwaxia (GM): that is exactly what happens to crawling horrors in a major fire, yes
... i wonder if any hit escape velocity
    pchoooooo
just send em flying across the medium
Karrin Blue: one lands in the middle of ilmatar's technicolor rainbowland
becomes VERY CONFUSED and also probably dead
Arxon: That'll add an interesting aspect to the war
"is that a derse agen- NOPE NOPE FUCK THIS"
    Karrin Blue: heheh
    so how was your week
    Arxon: Alright
two of my players went blind
    as you do
    Karrin Blue: From Skaia?
    gosh darnit
at least derse doesn't have to worry about that
    though the tradeoff is horrorterrors
Arxon: nope from getting stunlocked by imps and then the imps getting lucky crits in
    Karrin Blue: seriously
they both had imps that managed to hit the eyes
Arxon: well stunlocked by imps and nats 1s
Karrin Blue: that is some bad luck
Arxon: actually one of them might have crit themselves in a fight against imps?
    something like that
    YEP
Karrin Blue: so now i guess they're screwed
until they get killed and dreamrevived?
Arxon: one of them already was, the other does have their dream body still
They have had very bad luck
Karrin Blue: i'm sorry my first response is 'lol sucks to be them'
hopefully they can figure something out!
    aspect shenanigans?
    Arxon: hopefully!
...oh hey rogue of void that could work
    Karrin Blue: stealing the
    lack of sight
    hmm
or manifesting a pair of new eyes hehe
Wiwaxia (GM): or blindsight through the "secrets" side of void
    Karrin Blue: oh yeah
though is it a secret if you're just physically incapable of seeing it
and no attempt to obfuscate is being made
    i mean it's still hidden i guess
Wiwaxia (GM): yeah, but you could see the things you wouldn't normally be able to see
but maybe not the things that you would
    Karrin Blue: Hm!
hm, i pinged Bird and Whimsy and Moss earlier
does moss still have no internet?
Wiwaxia (GM): i think so, yeah
    Karrin Blue: huh ok then
    Arxon: brb getting food sorry!
    Karrin Blue: k
(and now i gotta go to the bathroom for a sec >< and then game?_
    Back now!
    Arxon: hello!
Karrin Blue: What food did you get?
    Arxon: tuna bowl
    today is lowkey dinner day
Wiwaxia (GM): uuuurgh, having trouble with the veil maps
    >:6
    Karrin Blue: D:<
    how dare they
    Arxon: those jerks
Wiwaxia (GM): so I'm probably not gonna be able to run you exploring tonight, arxon
    sorry :/
    Arxon: it's cool!
Wiwaxia (GM): karrin, what are you doing?
Karrin Blue: So I'm up, then?
    Nothing right now!
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep, you're up

  20. Wiwaxia

    Wiwaxia problematic taxon

    Karrin Blue: woo
So, last I recall, I found an open-air part of the Underground
    with flower
    flowers
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
    Myrtha Oscurr: So!
is this room a dead end?
like is there any other door other than the one I came from
Wiwaxia (GM): nope, there's an open doorway on the other side
Myrtha Oscurr: OK well before I go
Can I see where these flowers came from?
Trees or bushes or vines or whatever
Wiwaxia (GM): and a spiral staircase up to the surface
    Myrtha Oscurr: ahh
I shall ascend that staircase! just for now to see what's up there
Wiwaxia (GM): you emerge on a plain of solid, roughened glass
    stray beads are scattered around
    on either side of you

Myrtha Oscurr considers that this place would probably get scorching hot if there was any sun. Just as well, then
Wiwaxia (GM): long, straight dunes of beads marh away over the horizon in both dirsctions
    Myrtha Oscurr: Hm
    Are there any plants around?
If it's solid glass there isn't anyplace for them to grow out of
Wiwaxia (GM): none but the flowers down in the room
which are kinda between low-lying shrub and vine
and are growing out from between the blocks of fused glass beads that make up the room's walls
Myrtha Oscurr: Are we particularly near the river?
    or any telephone poles
    Wiwaxia (GM): no telephone poles
you're not too far from the river
but you can't see it over the dunes, and you're not sure where it is, exactly
    Myrtha Oscurr: Hm
Probably best not to get too far away from landmarks then
I'll head back down into the room
    Wiwaxia (GM): rolling 1t[THE-ADVENTURE-DIE-OF-ADVENTURE!!(and/or-misery)]

    backtrack or continue on?
    Myrtha Oscurr: Continue on!
Wiwaxia (GM): this section of the hallway has high arches supporting the roof
and generally looks much nicer than the rest of the tunnels you've been in
there's lightwells using the same grids of purple glass every dozen meters or so
with the same white flowers springing up around where they illuminate
at the end is a heavy double-door of tarnished copper
    Myrtha Oscurr: ...Well that's new

    Myrtha Oscurr photo!
Myrtha Oscurr: Are there any engravings on the door?
Wiwaxia (GM): with a relief of stylized power lines radiating out from the center where the doors meet
    Myrtha Oscurr: Oh hm
are there any cables around this area?
    in the ceiling or loor
    There weren't any aboveground
but copper + picture of power cables does give me some thought
also i have seen all of 2 kinds of plant life around here, white flowers and the telephone poles, and this is the only place I've seen the white flowers
    Myrtha Oscurr: so
    in any case!
can i get the door open?
Wiwaxia (GM): some cables hanging in loops just over the door, decorative-like
    none anywhere else around
    Myrtha Oscurr: Interesting.
Wiwaxia (GM): the door isn't budging much
    might be jammed or barred?
    Myrtha Oscurr: hmm
    how would i tell
    i wonder
    if i could like
stick a sword through the crack and try and dislodge whatever's barring it?
Wiwaxia (GM): no visible lock this side
and the doors will slide past each other a bit before jamming
depends how thin a blade you've got
Myrtha Oscurr: i mean I don't really know how wide swords tend to be?
Wiwaxia (GM): cursory googling says about half a centimeter
    and thinner at the tip
    so
sure, you can wiggle the tip around, but can't shove the blade in up to the hilt
    sound fair?
    Myrtha Oscurr: i suppose so
i mean, how thick are the doors
Wiwaxia (GM): can't tell from this side
    feel pretty damn heavy, though
Myrtha Oscurr: I mean it's copper
Copper is damn heavy to begin with
    Wiwaxia (GM): also true

Myrtha Oscurr has had to move copper cables before it SUCKS
    Myrtha Oscurr: or i have
myrtha afaik is not involved in theater or tech stuff so
    anyhow
does the sword wigling reveal anything
Wiwaxia (GM): yep, doors are a couple centimeter's thick and it feels like there's a bar across the back stopping them from opening in
    Myrtha Oscurr: Hm!
In that case, the only way through would to either brute force it which
I mean i'm strong but idk if i'm THAT strong
or to find another way in
but I believe I've explored all available tunnels
    siren: hold, villain!
    Myrtha Oscurr: Pardon me?

Myrtha Oscurr holds to be polite
Wiwaxia (GM): the voice is coming from the other side of the door
siren: what purpose do you have here?
our gates are strong, you cannot breach them!
Myrtha Oscurr: "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know anyone was in there."
"I wanted to... well, I wanted to see if I could find other people."
    siren: hrrrm
you still come armed to our gate
Myrtha Oscurr: "There are monsters all around and through the tunnels. I wanted to be prepared."
siren: where did you come by such arms?
how can we be sure you are not one of Them?
or an agent from the dark planet
Myrtha Oscurr: "This is the sword of my father. And I haven't yet met one of Them, assuming we're talking about the same Them, who used weapons."
(does Myrtha know what Lemi's planet is like?)
Wiwaxia (GM): (aG: My planet is
    aG: um
    aG: kinda evil?)
from a chatlog a couple hours back
Myrtha Oscurr: "And I am not from the 'dark planet' either, and I don't think I count as an agent of anything so far."
Wiwaxia (GM): (aG: The ground is all blood red and the shadows are everywhere and if you don't have a candle the shadows attack you and even if you do they stalk you.
aG: And I have no idea how to get home, I went through my gate so for all I know I could be halfway across the planet and Sis is in danger)
siren: what token can you provide of your truthfulness?
Arxon: (Man Lemi sounding pretty Hopeful there :V)
siren: I have no reason to trust your word
Myrtha Oscurr: ((...hm, I don't think I have anything especially proof-worthy in my sylladex))
    ((oh wait!))
"A few hours ago, some other sirens came to visit me and I helped them. They gave me some, um, lampmoths? I don't know if one of those would help, but..."

Myrtha Oscurr hopes she didn't just tell these guys that she has a ridiculous amount of money/resources and they're going to try and mug her now.
    siren: !!!
Myrtha Oscurr: ((ridiculous here meaning 'worth mugging over'))
    ???
((now that I think of it I do not know what those are for))
    ((are they like food or...))
((well I suppose I'll find out))
Wiwaxia (GM): there's sounds of whispered consulting behind the door
the gist of it seems to be that lampmoths are not found deeper in the Underground, and won't survive there
and agents of the dark planet wouldn't know about them
but you could still be working for Them and the lampmoths just stolen from a surface town

Myrtha Oscurr wishes she'd gotten the names of the sirens or where they're from
    Karrin Blue: ((Hrmg)
    Wiwaxia (GM): mm
Myrtha Oscurr: "Well, I didn't steal these. I - ugh, I haven't even SEEN any surface towns yet."
    siren: an eavesdropper, too?
Myrtha Oscurr: "You're not being very quiet."
siren: that does you no favors
Myrtha Oscurr: "And it seemed rude to just walk away from the door."

Myrtha Oscurr makes the Xb face at the door
Myrtha Oscurr: (if they can see her do that then they'd be able to tell she's a perfectly normal human!)
(this is logical and not at all childish)
siren: but even if you do tell the truth, an unwitting pawn of Them is hardly any better
Myrtha Oscurr: "The monsters I've seen aren't exactly the best tactical thinkers."
    siren: Nyx's get?
    hardly our biggest concern
Myrtha Oscurr: "Oh, there's other horrible things around here, of course there are. Well, I haven't met any yet, unless you're talking about the creepy whispering voices out in the desert."
    "And I ignored them, anyways."

Myrtha Oscurr hopes she isn't digging herself deeper
siren: if you are playing dumb, please cease
if you truly don't know who They are
I see no reason to be the one to inform you
Myrtha Oscurr: "Well using pronouns isn't terribly enlightening, but no I haven't run into anything except for sirens, monsters, some carapace guys, and creepy desert whispers! And I was HOPING to find out what was going on around here so that I wouldn't end up dead the next time some horrible thing tries to jump me!"
"Which I mean, I'll probably end up dead ANYWAYS because this is all TERRIBLE, but I at least don't want to die stupidly!"
siren: i admire your commitment to staying alive, but i am sorry to say that it is none of our concern
we have enough trouble protecting our own
Myrtha Oscurr: "Yeah I guessed that around the point when some sirens came to my house to ask for weapons."
siren: if you are so desperate for answers, go ask the renegade
    Myrtha Oscurr: "...Who now?"
    siren: a self-styled free agent
who thinks that breaking from the ties of village is noble and that uncovering secrets will do anything but play into Their plans
    whatever those may be
    look, stranger, some free advice
poking your head into every crevice is good for nothing but getting it stuck or chopped off
Myrtha Oscurr: "Unfortunately, I don't have many options at this point, short of sitting in one place and waiting for something to come along and try to eat me. So."
    "Thanks anyways, I guess.""
    siren: hm
    Myrtha Oscurr: (?)
    Wiwaxia (GM): (noncommittal noise)
    Myrtha Oscurr: (ah ok)
Well I guess I shall just go and.
Try and find this random person
Wiwaxia (GM): you've probably spent about 10 minutes having that conversation, so you get another spin on the

which would be a problem if you had a light source
    oh hai bird
    Myrtha Oscurr: Heh
    hiya bird!
Bird: (arrivves 2 hours late with...water?)
Myrtha Oscurr: (Myrtha is having a Difficulty)
    Arxon: (hey bird!)
    (jerk consorts are jerks)
    Bird: (oh dear)
Myrtha Oscurr: (I JUST WANTED TO SEE YOUR NICE VILLAGE AND FIND SOME BOOKS)
(but no I have to go and hunt down someone called the renegade, I guess)
(guess I'll go and do that!)
(I don't really have any leads, but whatever.)
    (now, back into the tunnels!)
Bird: (haha wow yeah those guys are dicks /just got caught up)
Wiwaxia (GM): can you move where you're going?
Myrtha Oscurr: I still think I've explored all available tunnels
    though
    hm.
Wiwaxia (GM): you could investigate the suspicious grist or try to get the glass door open
Myrtha Oscurr: Well I guess I'll go look at the suspicious grist
Wiwaxia (GM): or go up to the surface
Myrtha Oscurr: though it's probably more of the poisonous stuff
I don't think that was a dead end so I'll see if there's anything interesting past it
Wiwaxia (GM): or see if there's any secret doors
Myrtha Oscurr: Secret doors are always good!
what do I do to look for secret doors
Wiwaxia (GM): i'll just describe what they look like disguised as part of the room discription
closer inspection will turn up some clues that things aren't as they seem, although i reserve the right to subtelty and red herrings
    Myrtha Oscurr: Hmm
    well that's fair
Wiwaxia (GM): so, investigating the grist plie?
    Myrtha Oscurr: I suppose so
    carefully
    not touching it
looking for the... mold? underneath it
    that the others mentioned
    Wiwaxia (GM): you see this
Myrtha Oscurr: Can I see the mold stuff?
Wiwaxia (GM): what you see is what you see
    Myrtha Oscurr: Hmm
    can I sort of
try and scrape it out of the path
    with my polearm
    my own halberd i mean
    Wiwaxia (GM): kay
    that's the one without reach
    Myrtha Oscurr: ?
    ah.
Wiwaxia (GM): you also have your dad's halberd which does have longer reach
Myrtha Oscurr: yeah I just don't want to like
damage it if these are acidic or harmful to anything other than humans
    Wiwaxia (GM): fair enough
so moving up and trying to sweep it aside with your polearm?
    Myrtha Oscurr: Yes
Wiwaxia (GM): i assume you'r staying as far back as possible
    Myrtha Oscurr: Yes
    Wiwaxia (GM): like about there
the tip of your halbered just reaches the closer grist
which are completely unwilling to budge
    Myrtha Oscurr: ...Hrm
    How wide is a hex
    Wiwaxia (GM): 1m
    Myrtha Oscurr: I wonder
If I could use Myrtha's ballet interest
to jump over that hex there and end up on the other side
    like that
    Wiwaxia (GM): like what?
    missed that
    but yes, definitely
Myrtha Oscurr: in that case I will do that thing!
what do I roll for something where my special interest gets involved
Wiwaxia (GM): lemme google how far ballet leaps go first
    unless you know that
    Myrtha Oscurr: not offhandedly
I mean I guess it depends on how good the ballerina is?
Wiwaxia (GM): i'm trying to figure out how far you can go on a success versus a critical success
failure lands you right in the middle of the pile, of course
Myrtha Oscurr: apparently most male dancers can jump five feet vertically
    yeah i know
though I'm jumping over the smallest part and starting as close as I can, I think
Wiwaxia (GM): anyways, interest rolls are roll twice take the better
you could roll str, dex or grace on this, I think
although consequences might be slightly different for each
Myrtha Oscurr: Dex is my best so I guess I'll do that one
    so it's... roll d20 + 12?
    twice?
    Wiwaxia (GM): yep
    Myrtha Oscurr: rolling d20+12
    (
    10
    )+12
    = 22
    rolling d20+12
    (
    20
    )+12
    = 32
    :D
    Arxon: :D!!!
Wiwaxia (GM): kay, like that, I think
and you've still got a move left
    Myrtha Oscurr: Onward!
i mean Idk what else is in this room
    so
Wiwaxia (GM): yep, lemme figure that out
there's scratches or cuts all over the floot

Myrtha Oscurr is the most graceful dancer in this whole tunnel network
    Wiwaxia (GM): *floor
    Myrtha Oscurr: (probably)
