World of Darkness is a tabletop RPG game, like Dungeons and Dragons. It's dark urban fantasy, shading into horror, and usually revolves around things like vampires, werewolves, and faeries. If you wanna read along, we're all doing "solo preludes" right now, which just means a mini-scenario to figure out your character, before the group joins up. The Popcorn Thread is specifically for commentary, so feel free to post in there; you're of course also welcome in the planning threads, but they may contain spoilers, which you may or may not wanna read before they come up in-game. The starting threads are... https://kintsugi.seebs.net/threads/the-twilight-world.3801/ https://kintsugi.seebs.net/threads/fools-dawn.3800/ https://kintsugi.seebs.net/threads/fools-journey.3813/ https://kintsugi.seebs.net/threads/hello-sunshine.3792/ https://kintsugi.seebs.net/threads/my-candle-burns-at-both-ends.3827/ https://kintsugi.seebs.net/threads/moonlight-nocturne.3797/ And separate from the main group, https://kintsugi.seebs.net/threads/the-tower-in-the-storm.3818/ So you can pick up with any or all of those. Trigger warnings are in the thread tags.
Roleplaying game with all kinds of supernatural bullshit. Right now we're doing a sort of preamble thing, our characters' disparate backgrounds, so you can basically read the current solo threads in whatever order, except for Night of Swords... Basically, so far, we have: Hello Sunshine: Corrie Macpherson- my character! Misadventures in the Mojave, with spoopy ghosts. Moonlight Nocturne: Babby Elena Yakir looks for her missing brother, finds vampires and werewolves and rat zombies, oh my. Fool's Dawn: Changeling Mutt finds a new home. Lots of violence ensues. The Twilight World: Changeling Mica takes in runaways. The Night of Swords: Sequel to both Fool's Dawn and The Twilight World; both should be read first. My Candle Burns At Both Ends: Changeling Evelyn Browne is having problems. Fool's Journey: Woo-shop workers Mischa and Kainze Carmin discover there's more than woo to be had. Tower in the Storm: standalone that's not going to be tied into the actual campaign, a bunch of Weird Scary Shit happening to someone Ed: Ninja'd
@OnnaStik Ninja'd! :D Yes, this. Elena would like it to be noted that she also found a girlfriend, so, y'know. Net win.
We're having lots of fun, anyway! :D Let us know what you think if you want to; commentary is super fun.
@chaoticArbiter you should read Fool's Dawn before you read The Twilight World; most of the latter happens after most of the former.
very good to know. Pulling post into here so I don't derail that thread - want me to try and avoid this verbage for your game?
Nah, that shit freaks me out in an enjoyable horror movie way, not in an actually freaked way. .. Although LIVING things embedded in or attached to people freak me out in an un-fun way, like, warts, or similar stuff growing on/in people now I'm remembering that "trypokittens" post Luka made years ago, that was the worst :P
this shit (cw: gross body horror) but I realize that isn't a very precise description of the borders of the problem :P it's fine, it makes me uncomfortable but as far as I know I don't have any Serious Panic Causing Content Triggers.
Eh, this is for funtimes, it's legit to avoid being creeped out in the not-fun way. Should we warn for the freaky rat zombies in Elena's thread, and stuff like that?
... Huh, no, that actually doesn't bug me. The truth is I don't know how to describe what bugs me and what doesn't - includes warts and trypokittens but not rat zombies or mouth gems. So, it's difficult to know what to ask people to tag.. and I'd probably end up reading it anyway, haha.
Interesting. Okay. o/ Well, let us know if anything comes up and at least we can spoilercut it if it comes up further.
Same, but at least when it's under a cut its my own fault for looking and I end up less upset than I would if I looked by accident.
[3:02:29 PM] Zin Karyuu: ...at what point do threads get long enough that we should split them into bits, guys [3:02:34 PM] Zin Karyuu: scritches head [3:02:50 PM] Zin Karyuu: This is probably a good question to ask? Also: How much timeline fuckery are we okay with - ie. if we want some things to occur, we may want to pull Null/Mutt/Arie up faster, since they're further back in the timeline? I can make things work and have the changeling group crash into the others later, if that's fine with everyone... just want to query.
*nods* Possibly... though we may want to cover some of what's up with Nul, Mutt, and Arie and the courts? Depends on how things go. eta: correction - I would love to run through them meeting some of the courtiers. Especially as that is going to help link into the other changelings.
nodnod! that sounds really fun! but we could skip a little to that, and then skip again. it doesn't have to be all at once.
